I agree with tongue, you really need to be in that situation to know how you are going to react. What I don't understand though is that people were going to sleep with a serial rapist on the loose! I would have been the same as the woman sitting in the kitchen with her gun pointed at the window all night, only I wouldn't have aimed above his head.i do wonder what would have happened if the males would have fought Ear instead of giving into him?maybe we would have seen Ear flee like when the big guy threatened him in the apartment complex?or perhaps that wasnt even Ear, im not sure..or when Ear was still in his 'rape phase' it was probably better that the man and woman gave in to Ear and let themselves be tied as they lived!later victims werent so lucky obviously, and in their cases i dont think it mattered if they fought or were submissive, GSK had presented himself and he was there to kill..
it was such a different time back then, security systems werent prevalent and people werent on guard as they are today..no way could a serial rapist/killer get away with what Ear/Gsk did..
I believe that LE let the public know there was a brutal serial rapist out there after the 7th/8th attack. The community was now warned but still they fell asleep with their bedroom door open! At the very least I would have had a triple lock on my bedroom door. OK, so he gets in my house but he sure isn't getting in my bedroom. On one of the documentaries I watched, they interviewed a female victim explaining the routine she had with her husband (she was going to tie him loosely). Errr....excuse me? Had I not heard those words coming out of her mouth I wouldn't have believed it. Perhaps I've read one too many books on serial killers and am borderline paranoid, but this lacksidasical attitude really shocks me.
