Think about “Sunny”, one of the EAR victims written about by Larry Crompton; she endured a horrible assault compounded by further trauma due to Crompton’s public judgements on her life.

Such attitudes about worthy vs unworthy victims contributes to the LISK, the Grim Sleeper, and similar offenders being able to continue killing for many years.

Yes, Elir, your post is so spot-on. I also so appreciate you noting that it is never okay to view victims as worthy vs. unworthy, and how that particular mind-set contributes to offenders continuing their horrific crimes.

It is completely appalling to know what happened to Sunny, and how she was so egregiously treated. She did absolutely nothing wrong, and she deserved to be treated with respect and compassion, not unwarranted judgment of any kind.

There are additionally certain professions where women and men are viciously preyed upon by the most heinous of offenders. For example, women and men who are sex workers are often tragically beaten, raped, and murdered. They also often feel they have very little choice but to enter this profession, due to being destitute, homeless, and/or having no familial and social support.

Uninformed and judgmental societal views of these women and men do nothing but contribute to their high risk of being harmed, injured, or killed. Most do not want to be in such a dangerous, unhealthy, risky profession, but again, they often feel they have little choice. If they have been a victim of a sex trafficker (which is becoming extremely common) they tragically have no choice at all.

Oh joy - a long-winded lecture to nobody because nobody indicated they view some victims as worthy or unworthy based on whether or not they are sex workers.   It was merely pointed out that sex work that involves meeting strange men and going to secluded areas with them is dangerous.

I am wondering if LE ever thoroughly checked their neighbors out.

The reason I ponder this is because I once almost bought a beautiful home in an area similar to where the Dermond couple lived.

The homeowner connected with me and really liked me, so she blurted out, "I cannot sell you this home! You are so nice, and I really like you, so I feel compelled to tell you something very important..."

She then proceeded to inform me that a neighbor in their cul-de-sac had broken into her home twice, and he was currently in jail, but would be out soon. She was afraid that when he got out, he would break into her home again, and whoever bought the home would suffer for it.

This was a beautiful, upscale neighborhood, but criminals live everywhere, so I do wonder if a neighbor could have committed this crime.

My main focus has always been for the past 20+ years the abductions and murders along I-45 in Texas, including "The Killing Fields." I recently started a blog about them, link in my signature.

They are very rarely talked about and so few victims have gotten justice even though the murders have been happening since the early 70s. There are so many serial killers with ties to Calder Rd. It is fascinating and scary at the same time.

The only other case for me is the Unsolved Murder of Valarie Percy in a Chicago suburb in 1966(or about). Valarie was the daughter of Illinois Senator Charles Percy, who actually won the seat just weeks after Valarie was killed. Valarie had an identical twin sister named Sharon and both were beautiful.

Knew about this case since I was 13.

Valarie was beaten to death in her bed by an unknown burglar while most of her family slept. Every angle possible has been discussed in the past 53 years from a mafia hit, to a family member with no
solid leads. Sure! The usual prison convicts and dark figures provided so called iron clad leads from jewelry heist gone bad and so forth.

However, if 20 year-old Joseph Deangrlo was anywhere near Chicago in 1966? He did it. But there is no evidence he was!

SACRAMENTO CONNECTION:

A POI was in a gunfight with Lincoln Police Officers around 1971-72, an officer was killed and no other info is available.

This case is the original Jon Bene Ramsey case of our time and I am surprised there is little discussion to this day?

I believe it was likely a park ranger or other LE, too.

It is difficult for me to believe that anyone other than LE could have controlled the victims in the manner the killer did.
