New Outreach on Missy Bevers case

I’ve spent the better part of two weeks looking at this case and with all of the work LE has done to eliminate suspects I’m more and more inclined to believe that this was a random, wrong place/wrong time murder.

None of the killer’s behavior is suggestive of someone who has planned to kill. If anything, the breaking in and ransacking of the church would be signals to anyone arriving that there had been a break in and to call 911. I don’t believe the killer intended anyone to be there and was probably startled by Missy.

Missy regularly had people in her class show up early at 4:30am and on the day of her murder a new co-worker was starting and arrived at the church at 4:30 but couldn’t figure out how the door opened so he went back and sat in his car. So we know the murder took place in a really tight window between 4:20-4:30.

It should be noted that Missy’s social media accounts were public as a way for her to get new people to join the class, but this is where all of the info about people being early comes from....so if this were a stalker situation he would get the info about people being there early along with class time/location info.

I believe the light colored Nissan Altima to be connected to the crime as the driver’s behavior is clearly that of someone who was casing the gun store down the road. The gun store and the church are across the highway from each other and .6 miles apart. There is literally nothing but highway between the two locations, so that they both would be targeted by two different burglars on the same day seems highly unlikely.

I agree with a lot of the people who assess the offender as a wannabe cop. Possibly someone with a security guard background, but more so than that I would be looking at all of my local burglars if I were LE. I see the perp as being male and younger, possibly 18-30.

One thing I can’t rule out is that the killer may have targeted the church itself for personal reasons. While he possibly just thought he had all of the time in the world to loaf around, a seasoned burglar is going to be in and out and certainly not going to go out of their way to destroy things unnecessarily. This is one of the reasons I see the offender as someone young and unseasoned, but may also have a bone to pick with organized religion.

Great post. It doesn't line up with everything I have been thinking, but it's well reasoned and has solid deduction. Certainly gives me some things to think over.

Admittedly I’ve been listening to a lot of the podcast material that’s out there on the case, taking in other theories, and I’ve found most of the brick walls come when operating from the assumption that Missy was targeted and killed.

LE has seemingly cleared everyone close to her at this juncture, and the people who could have the type of info necessary to move forward with such a plan are going to have to be highly knowledgeable of her routine to the point that they would have to be close to her in some capacity.

They would have to know that she would be alone — which she usually wasn’t — and also that she would be even still holding the class in the middle of a 12 hour downpour. It happened that the two women in her class who would also get there at 4:30 just happened not to go early that day, however she still had the co-worker who did arrive at 4:30. The co-worker tends to eliminate someone from work in that he was planning to arrive at the same time as Missy.

Pretty much the only description released on her death is listed as puncture wounds to the face an upper body, consistent with the weapons this offender is seen holding.

Look, if someone planned this thing out and is going to go to work on her with a hammer and screwdriver I would consider that to be highly personal in nature....but anyone close enough to her to have info about her class is going to know actually how in-opportune of a time it really is.

I’ve even considered that this person could have previously been in her class or connected to someone who was, but even then the breaking of glass and leaving things amiss inside the church is only going to tip someone showing up that there’s potentially a burglar at the scene and maybe it isn’t safe to go further inside. Also this person would reasonably have to know where she would go inside the church to properly lie in wait for her.

A lot just doesn’t add up in the targeted murder scenario, especially when taking the prowler at the gun store into account.

I am immensely fascinated by this case, but admittedly have not done all the due diligence on it that zforce has. I do wonder about a "burglary" being so aimless and halfhearted. Just wandering around breaking things and sort of half-ass prying open doors is perplexing. Perhaps this is more akin to just an intent to vandalize?

Also, for a huge church with fairly high quality video surveillance gear inside the church, why were the outside cameras not working, and - perhaps more importantly - how did the killer gain entry and no alarms went off of any kind? A church would get an expensive set of high tech cameras but no alarm system?

My first thought was (and still is) that this is a female in the video. Something about the gait, the lack of effort in trying to force open doors, and a general sense of non-male-ness. I would be looking for an overweight female who is familiar with the area.

Yeah the break in is bizarre all the way around. However if Missy isn’t the target then maybe the person is there to direct their anger at the church for some reason.

That person who was dressed in the police swat uniform knew that there were cameras in the building. The person also has a feminine type of walk. An obese young woman may be the killer. The killer may have had past and present mental health issues probably related to sexual orientation problems. LE should focus their investigation on younger persons who have juvenile records.

The equipment looks like it was relatively new. LE should check Ebay and amazon sales of swat police gear to the areas in the city and around the city between 2009 to 2016. Also, any gun show vendors or flea market vendors in the city and areas surrounding it that sell swat police equipment should be checked out. The helmet looks like something worn in paintball games. Any paintball businesses in the city and surrounding areas should be checked out also.

I felt the same way.

Apparently that “outfit” is readily available online according to police, but I wonder if it was actually carried in any stores in the Dallas area (assuming LE had no luck in Midlothian).

It seems someone somewhere would recognize it, and honestly they may get a ton of tips about it as it is.

If the father in law has been dismissed as a suspect then how do persons feel about this idea.  This person dressed in the swat uniform was in the church as part of some type of game or role-play( being played with others) to find some type of item that was hidden in the church by the other person or persons.  The person was subsequently confronted by Missy who the Perp was not expecting to be in the church at that time.

There was a sign in front of the church that says that the church was under video surveillance. That would have alerted the perp to wear the tactical uniform. Now why did the perp not suspect there were alarms inside of the church also?  Could it be that the perp was inside the church at night before and knew there were no door alarms?

Funny you bring that up....

One theory I’ve been toying with is that the person was looking for something specific in the church, which would explain the meandering behavior prior to Missy’s arrival.

Her murder occurred early on a Monday, so I have to assume the previous day would be the church’s busiest day of the week. Did something occur on Sunday that made this person want to go back and break in to the church?

It still doesn’t really explain the unnecessary vandalism, unless the person was upset with the church....but I also tend to believe the Nissan Ultima is connected and when taking the context of that video into account I think it’s more likely a straight up burglary situation. It should be noted that the car video surfaced in the first place due to vandalism that had occurred at the gun store.

zforce what is your take on the perp touching the wall as he or she walked. Could it be 1. The person has eyesight problems 2. The person has a balance problem 3. The person's shoes were too big so it was interfering with the person's balance while walking.

The perp's bar that he tried to open the door with may have been used to kill Missy.
