That is correct pod. Due to the lack of communication LE has displayed towards BB's next of kin and their mantra that there isn't any evidence of foul play, instead of saying "hey we don't know right now, we're going to look at the car and examine the remains and we won't rule anything out until we do that," they keep insisting that BB simply got stuck and wandered off and died.

Here's a local news article where it looks like an LE spokesperson is setting up a "this wasn't criminal" narrative, without letting anyone in the family know why they think that.

I can't share everything that we are discussing right now but I will say this: BB wouldn't have wandered off, and this just makes NO sense. We are in a holding pattern right now, they haven't even indicated to BB's next of kin whether or not they will process her car for evidence-how hard would that be to do? No one has had the grace to debrief her sister or discuss next steps. It's bizarre and frustrating.

We are preparing for a worst case scenario where LE decides not to have a licensed forensic examiner perform an autopsy and decides not to process the car for forensic evidence.

Folks, we could really use some community advocacy with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department right now. As of Monday, one of BeeBee’s family members was told that a forensic examination of the car will not be done. Perhaps this is due to the fact that one of the deputies actually got into the car after it was pulled out of wherever it was found (we still can’t get a straight answer on that) and drove it to the Coroner’s office.

The sheriff’s office keeps insisting that there is no evidence of foul play, but there has never been an official family briefing on what has been examined so far and why the Sheriff’s office seems to be labeling BeeBee’s disappearance and possible death as “not a potential crime.” To our knowledge, although BeeBee’s cell phone was found in the car, they have not examined the phone saying that “it would need to be charged” for them to do that.

There are other potential leads that we would like the sheriff’s office to look into, which I won’t list here, but our main request right now is to have the car swabbed for DNA. We believe this to be important, and in our opinion, a basic request given the extremely suspicious nature of BeeBee’s disappearance and possible death, (her remains have yet to be officially identified via DNA).

Folks, please help us. Please contact the sheriff’s department and submit a public comment as a concerned citizen, asking that BeeBee’s car and the contents therein, be swabbed for DNA, before it’s too late.

I'm really sorry to hear about this, L4J.  I will try to remember tomorrow to call and voice my concerns.  

I was looking around her Facebook page, YouTube channel, etc, and just doing some general research.  I didn't find anything yet, but I'm just kind of speeding through while I have some time.  There is one Facebook page that mentioned her, and said something like she was a frequent contributor, but I searched all recent posts there, going back a few months, and didn't find any comments or likes, etc. from her on that page: www.facebook.com/groups/283125488560326/  I did a search of her name with site:facebook.com and didn't find any recent posts either.

One thing I do think about her possible destination being Chagdud Gonpa Rigdzin Ling is that it isn't among her liked pages, nor can I find any comments/likes/etc. on their Facebook page going back several months from her.  I know she asked for directions, but, since she appeared to be a pretty savvy Internet user, I'm sure she would have gone to their page and found out that the center has been closed since the start of COVID.  I think it would be odd for her to volunteer there as it is a looooooong way from her home.  I don't understand her asking for directions from State Farm to go there - it's really odd.

I think that it is imperative that LE do a search of her car and provide an inventory.  Was her car locked?  Her neighbor said she saw a musical instrument (guitar or banjo or mandolin) outside her car - were any in the vehicle?  If not, where are they?

Her phone should be searched like YESTERDAY and her phone bill should be obtained.  They need to check her GPS.

She told the neighbor she had a five-hour drive.  Surely she would have procured lodging for such a long trip - they need to check her phone and computer for any searches for lodging/camping etc.  Did she camp and was there camping equipment in her car?  One news article says she brought food with her - again, that says overnight trip, perhaps more than one night.  It was Labor Day weekend coming up, so lodging/campgrounds may have been difficult to find.  I'll take a look later to see what campgrounds are in the area.

I also started looking to see what events were going on in that area over the holiday weekend, in Arcata/Eureka, etc. - live music events.  There are so few with the quarantine, but she might have gone to attend one if it was people she knew that were going to social distance.  Bringing her musical instrument(s) (I guess she played a few) says to me that she was going to be doing something musical.  Of course, if she was going camping, then she probably would bring her guitar/mandolin etc.

Was she suffering from any signs of dementia?  I hate to ask, but she was 75.  Did she have any disabilities, like sight/hearing/mobility?

Saturn-YES!!! We are SO frustrated. How can they say "no foul play" without examining the car and phone at the very least? It just doesn't make sense to me. They seem to be an extremely apathetic bunch. They simply don't give a s**t. And the worst part of all? They are blocking us from entering BB's apartment to check her mail, answering machine & communications. Humboldt Sheriffs tell the landlord: "Don't let anyone in! We will consider this breaking & entering if you let someone in!" And then they tell us; "We don't care, we won't be processing BeeBee's car, phone or apartment, it's between you and the landlord." And then we can't get anything in writing from them. We just sent off a letter to the big cheese. Staying hopeful for a coherent communication with them.

Hi all. The update is this: LE in Humboldt county found only a few parts of Bee Bee’s bones after a one-time cursory search around the car. A forensic anthropologist from Chico state examined the bones and found “significant animal activity.” No security camera footage was recovered from where Bee Bee bought food and gas because Humboldt deputies waited too long to request the footage. The car was never processed for prints or swabbed for DNA.

Basically, Humboldt LE doesn’t care. Bee Bee was just some crazy old hippie who got lost and then eaten by wild animals. Case closed. Bee Bee’s son has her computer but I have no idea if he has turned it on or searched for sny evidence related to where she was headed and if she was actually picking anyone up or not.

Very scary and very frustrating. After this first-hand experience, I seriously question the state of our law enforcement standards and whether any official agency would do their due diligence to find me if I met a similar circumstance. Basically, if you are unlucky enough that your immediate family doesn’t lead their communications with LE in a push to find evidence and you don’t have money to throw at a private investigator, in Humboldt county at least, your death or missing persons case will be under-investigated. To put it another way, welcome to 3rd world justice. Or as the families of the missing & murdered native women in Humboldt county might say: “welcome to the reservation.”

I have a friend who has gone missing in Humboldt county. I don't want to speculate, but she has been gone for 3 weeks with no communication, so I fear the worst. This could be a stranger abduction under the ruse of providing a ride, or this could be a situation where she fell to the side of the road or got lost and hurt herself and couldn't walk out.

1) Called the sheriff tip line and asked if a grid search of the area has been done yet, it is a "leave a message" type situation, so I just left one.
2) I suspect they have not searched the area due to lack of resources-want to organize a search party
3) Promote the search party event to out-of-town search & rescue aficionados, where do I find them online?

Was this in the Emerald Triangle of Humbolt Co.? Near the infamously named "Murder Mountain"?
So many have gone missing in that area. Some parts even the Sheriff's do not go into. Armed guards on Quads patroling constantly. There are a few documentary's about the area.

I'm sorry about your friend. 

I see a lot of missing person cases for adults that are not handled well all over the country especially in rural areas. 

If people don't have family members that hit social media and canvas the community to drum up publicity, law enforcement seems to assume that they have left of their own accord unless they find clear evidence of foul play.
