When we visited Santa Clara last year, it struck me that most people live in crowded high end row houses because a single family is so expensive. I would think those overcrouded conditions would make residents an easy target for rapists/killers. That and the fact that most residents of Santa Clara don't become acquainted with their row house attached neighbors, socializing mostly in sports and reading clubs.
I'm not sure whether or not to scare my SIL and BIL of he violent past history of their town. Most likely they would freak out.
