If Richard Allen is guilty, the question is what else might he have done? 45 is quite late for an individual to begin killing. Then again, I suspect one or both girls got away from him and he lost control, so perhaps it was his first murder. I'd be amazed he hasn't committed other offences though, even if he was never suspected.

The CVS where this guy worked is used by everyone in town and isn’t far from the police station. Libby and Abby’s families used it too. Meaning multiple people close to the case saw this guy on a frequent basis and didn’t connect him to the crime. Keep this in mind when thinking why didn’t his wife/daughter suspect him?
If we accept that close relatives might be in denial, then why didn’t the cops or families of the victims suspect him? Because he looks like any other middle aged guy in that area and at least on the surface, appeared to be like any other guy there .

The fact that this guy only lived 1 mile away from the Monon bridge and that the Bridge Creek lead from the crime scene to Allen's home, as my statement as why none of his neighborrs or family reconized him as being one of the many people who look very much like the murder suspect sketch.  I did keep in mind that the whole town may have seen this guy on a daily basis, but he does appear to have changed his appearance after the sketchs went public & his very close proximity to the crime scene shouldve thrown up more red flags to these people...  JMO.

Could well be the case. Hopefully, monday will clear that up. Because LE have been so circumspect regarding details, it wouldn't surprise me if they take the "ongoing investigations" approach.

Agree on possible route he could have taken back to the house to avoid detection.

Sorry I wasn’t explaining this well. Your question about red flags is valid , but I’ve seen attacks on his wife in several forums questioning how could she not have known, but It’s not unusual for a person to be in denial that their spouse is capable of such horror. I agree that’s it’s pretty surprising that the cops missed this guy given he was right there.

Why wasn’t he caught sooner - several possibilities:
(1) he was looked at and erroneously cleared early on
(2) he was poi for a while but not enough evidence to arrest
(3) he was a suspect but they were monitoring him to try to catch other accomplices ( particularly if this is CSAM ring)
(4) he wasn’t on their radar at all until recently

FYI - have been accusations of incompetence during the investigation.

Just 3 days ago, a former deputy sheriff in Carroll County filed a suit claiming he was demoted due to disagreements between himself and Sheriff Leazenby in the early days of the investigation on the direction of this case. Then 2 days later they make an arrest.

If this suspect doesn’t confess and goes to trial claiming innocence, it will be interesting to see if the defense brings up evidence of misconduct and incompetence , including the above lawsuit, to get him cleared.

So how could they have missed him? Could be valid reasons, could be plain old incompetence.

It's possible people who knew him thought he looked like Bridge Guy, but had no reason to think it was him. Bridge Guy was a common looking sketch. Nothing about it that really stood out as out of the ordinary. No weird scars or birthmarks or whatever. I'm sure people in Delphi knew plenty of people who had a basic resemblance to Bridge Guy.

Maybe he just never did anything around the time of the murders to draw suspicion upon himself. Like quit his job on a whim and decide to never leave the house where his family and friends would go "Hey, Richard is acting funny, something's up"

It seems the case with JJD as well, to his family, he was a regular guy who liked to go fishing and spend time with his daughters. To others he was a odd guy or bad ( threatening) neighbor, but even that doesn’t equate with being one of the worst serial rapists and murders in the history of the state. We want to think that we have some internal detector that will effectively alert us to these killers but the problem is that it doesn’t always work that way. And blaming the families, coworkers, and neighbors, for not knowing better just increases their pain.

From what little info we have from Delphi locals , they tended to think the killer was a random person from outside the immediate area , not someone in their midst. It’s really a defensive mechanism , how can you go on living in a small town when the uncaught killer of two young girls could be your neighbor, or the helpful guy down at the local CVS?

Will be interesting to hear how they caught him, was it via technology ( better dna techniques etc) someone close finally coming forward to report him, because of a connection to the Klines/CSAM investigation , or a combination of factors.

There was a post on Reddit earlier today where several people in Delphi said that they shopped at that CVS and talked to this guy regularly. These are people that were posting on the Delphi subs daily and NOT ONE OF THEM made the connection to this guy. I swear there was a post where Becky Patty said she shopped in that CVS as well and talked to this creep on multiple occasions. I'm trying to find it so I can link it here. If they couldn't make the connection, then who could???

I sure will be interested to hear Doug Carter and Robert Ives explain the non-secular, shack, evil, and other references in the 2019 speech to the killer. That speech was obviously intended to trigger a response.

Press conference was relatively short and emotional. No real information provided other than to confirm they have corroborating evidence that ties Allen to the murders and justifies the arrest. In short, it's still an active investigation, they are leaving all of the tip lines open and are encouraging tips be brought forward. The two items that stuck out to me were comments from the senior ISP officer who was pretty (and understandably) emotional, certainly at the beginning of his comments. He was adamant that 'today is not the day that details will be released'. The second was, he spoke about driving into the church today and wondering the emotions he would feel. He said he was surprised that he felt 'peace'. That would indicate (to me, at least) the investigative team truly feels they have the evidence necessary to conclude the case. I certainly hope so for the sake of the families.

"The investigation continues"..... The Prosecutor was asked about KK's possible involvement and we got no answer one way or the other.... sounds like they are still looking into others somehow having been possibly involved in these murders..

More reporting from a FOX 59 News reporter says that two weeks ago KK was in court and a possible plea deal may have been made, but not discussed in open court, then right after that court appearance Allen's home, car etc..  was searched by LE.  

Also from the same reporter news that LE had spoken to Allen from very early in the investigation, but put aside, then recently investigators went back to review all tips, leads & interviews from the very beginning of the case.

Sorry I don't have a link to the reporter as he was speaking live right after the press conference, but the reporter did say that "Allen's name came up early in the investigation and LE had talked to him back then"...  Then the reporter said that "someone went back too take a fresh look at the early stages of the investigation and reviewed all the tips and info again"...  the reporter didn't say who it was that relooked at the info.  The reporter also drew possible connections to what was going on in KK's criminal case to the Delphi case and the recent timeline of events in both.

If I can find the report I will post it.
