I know that a lot of profiles and opinions on possible backgrounds have EARONS positioned at McClellan or Mather AFB, and may have attended college under the GI Bill.
I've thought of this before, but until recently not noticed two cases and a similarity/connection: Mather AFB and two "key" cases.
I call refer to them as "key" because one was one of if not the first strike, and the other was the Maggiore murders...
Case #1 (I believe it is the first documented? June 18th, 1976...), victim's father was out of town on business, but also had been an Air Force retiree, having been stationed at Mather AFB.
The Maggiore murders, which have often been spoken of as a possible link to the identify of the EARONS if he in fact was their killer. Lots of people hope that is the case as to find a link. I am not trying to connect dots for no reason, but did notice something interesting (to me, at least, but perhaps Mather AFB was heavily populated during this time period- this is where info/opinions would be helpful).... Brian Maggiore was also stationed at Mather AFB.
The theory the Maggiore's "had to die" because they could possibly identify him, this being his first alleged strike/murder (if in fact it was EARONS), and his 1st documented attack (rape) having some connection to Mather AFB, as well as Mather Field Drive being a route to Mather AFB...
Is there a way to look up information re: who was stationed at Mather AFB in the 1970s? I don't know if this is even something that is widely available or available in full, but I would be curious to look at the list if it also were to include any info. on honorary or dishonorable discharges. I have no proof or anything to go off of other than finding the Mather AFB and two of the bigger crimes on his resume having some connection (the fact that being stationed at Mather AFB is a likely theory and has been for awhile anyway also lends some curiosity to the thought, admittedly).
If anybody knows where I could possibly find a list of info from that time period... I also would be curious to know if it was just that common for stationing to be at Mather or McClellan for that area, which could mean it's a stupid coincidence and nothing more if there were not many stations back then. I think Mather closed in '88 officially... so I have no idea what types of records exist or do not.
Thanks for any help finding such things in advance!...
