I'll admit that the shoelace tied in the knot found near the bodies is sketchy as hell, it certainly points to the ear.
At the same time however. It's hardly definitive. Who can say whether this was even dropped by the killer? It may have already been there for all kinds of reasons.
My main point remains: I see plenty of circumstantial evidence that links the maggiores to Ear, but I don't see anything that is anything more than conjecture based on the very little we have to go on.
Forgive me, I'm just trying to be the voice of reason here and challenge beliefs without much solid proof.
I noted some of the "pro-EAR involvement" points above.
Archangel (one of the more knowledgeable posters on the old AETV board) made strong arguments against EAR involvement.
Non-EAR involvement was investigated, with no resolution:
Ray Biondi investigated suspects at the air force base, interviewing "thousands of airmen." He said: "We had a lot of suspects, a lot of great theories and a lot of guys who seemed to have an established motive, but we never solved that case."

There may have been a suspect unrelated to the air force:
In addition to suspects at an air force base, Katie Maggiore and a co-worker reported creepy, stalker-y behavior at their workplace.
There's been no solid proof and no resolution with any of the angles that have been investigated.
