"Just now I'd like to add the wife
Of a Mafia lord to my file."
-------------------------------
Was EAR connected to La Cosa Nostra simply by being an active burglar? Did he have to pay a "tax" to the local Sacramento mob guy to operate as a burglar in the Sacramento area? Did he get any protection or heads up on increased LE activity in the area as a result?
The Wiki states that a now deceased Mafia guy ran some criminal enterprises in Sacramento. His last name was Trifiro. I think he lived/died in Carmichael. I wonder if EAR was mad at him--for whatever reason-- thus the threat in the poem? Anyway, please see below (from the Wiki):
"He (Maranghi) was one of many involved in a cocaine bust in October 1991. Maranghi decided to become an FBI informant instead of serving a long prison sentence and told federal agents of cocaine transactions he had had with his associates over a period of several years.[3]
Another man arrested was Gaetano Balistreri, a San Francisco mob associate, who owned the Portifino Cafe on Colombus Ave. Balistreri was arrested for distributing cocaine but the charge was eventually dropped. In 1994, the San Francisco Police raided the Portifino and arrested Balistreri again, this time for running an illegal gambling operation with video poker machines. Another member still living at the time was Steve Trifiro, who ran a small gambling operation near Sacramento, California.[3]"

Couple of things: (1) The "cocaine bust" in 1991 sent a lot of mob guys to jail. I wondered if EAR was caught up in that and maybe the 1991 call to a victim was a "going away" call prior to long jail time.
(2) Did Trifiro live near the Maggiore murder site? (Or any of the other EAR crime scenes?) Maybe a Sacramento sleuth might know where Trifero lived at that time?
If EAR was a part of a "burglary crew" did he move operations into SoCal with his crew as the Russian mafia moved into Sacramento and NorCal and pushed out the local non-Russian crews in the mid to late 80s? See: orgcrime.tripod.com/ruscali.htm
A poster mentioned that EAR never set foot in some areas of SoCal and NorCal and that made me think he didn't have permission to be a "commercial" burglar in those areas by the Mob.
