Hi everyone. Sorry if you already have a thread on this issue but I am new here and have to clear my mind.
First of all, I think most people who think EAR is still alive have a good point. He should be alive when you think about the description of his age etc..
I want him to be alive, I want him to be caught, but I do think he is dead. The reason why I think he is dead is that this guy wasn't normal. He wasn't like you and me. He lived for the thrill. Even after his crimes he called up the victims. Even if all of California was after him he continued to terrorize them. Even if the police were watching the 7-11 store he used to go to, he called them to taunt them. This guy was a psycho. He called the police to tell them he was going to rape again and he did. He was a sociopath. Someone with his state of mind can't go for so long without making a sound without being being dead. As much media coverage he has had the last few years surely he would make contact again. I refuse to believe that this guy can stay quiet for so long. He isn't like you and me. He doesn't think about the consequences of his actions. He is not afraid of going to jail. Even BTK Dennis Rader couldn't stay away from trouble and contacted newspapers long after his last crimes. I think if EAR was alive he would make some kind of noise.
Also another thing I think should be investigated if whether EAR himself was a victim/son of a victim when it comes to home invasion. I read multiple times that he didn't hurt the children and put them in a room. I could be way off here but I think he experienced something like this in his childhood where he wasn't hurt, but his mother might have been raped and he was traumatized by it. Should probably take a look at home invasion police reports in the California area in the 1950s/1960s. He didn't come up with this MO out of nowhere in his early 20s. He must have been inspired/traumatized by an experience like this.
