Who can forget about the "well lubricated" dinner a former poster once had with an FBI agent?
It's an interesting story that makes a good point. The point is so good that we'd really like to know what those 25 ways of getting caught are. That's assuming there ever was an actual formal list within the agency. Maybe the agent was merely speaking generally and pulled the numbers out of thin air. Or maybe not, but we may never know because f1guyus is getting up in years and doesn't remember anymore. Awhile back another poster asked him privately for us. No worries, F1, if you ever read this.
I've researched the topic to see if there's anything published like that by LE, but no dice. Something might turn up eventually, but until then the best we can do is reconstruct the list ourselves. And why not? A list will give us something to work from as we form theories and try to understand the offender. Here's a start. Please add what's missing. By the way, it was easier to word the items as a "don't do" list, but that can be changed later.
So there it is. What have I left out, and is there a better way to categorize the items?
One of my father-in-laws friends was an FBI agent (long deceased). He told me after a long and well lubricated dinner that there are about 25 ways that murderers get caught and most of them are smart enough to figure out 20 of them. It was the other five that got 'em caught. EAR somehow knew all 25. he didn't give LE any connections between himself, where he slept, what he drove or any of his "social habits" I'll wager he knew they were going to profile him, And what the profile would say. Then he didn't conform to the profile. I've posted before about the Stockton policewoman who interviewed 6 of the Sacramento victims. She told my wife "Don't plan on us catching this guy."
