Recently, while searching for a domain name, I stumbled across a blog about the EAR/ONS. Apparently there are “inept and corrupt LE” involved with that investigation. Although I would not use it as a blanket cover statement, I would not argue about the ineptness that occasionally reared it’s ugly head. To say that any LE intentionally worked or works at impeding this investigation is so asinine as to deserve no further comment.
What I did read showed me there are a number of uninformed opinions. There also appears to be some free floating maliciousness on this board.
For the sake of moving on let me clarify some issues.
1. Why wait for 38 years to write the book?
I began it the first day of my retirement. After only one day I reaffirmed what I already knew. That being I did not have a clue how to write a book.
Over the years this investigation has followed me; not the other way around. In 2009 I was asked to write down what I could recall of my part in that investigation. Like everybody else, my memory is spotty. But there is much I do recall and in some detail. Some memories had to be jump started by outside sources. Eventually that collection of memories and notes turned into a semi - sorta manuscript.
One of the reasons I wanted to see this information turned into a book was to remove some of the misunderstandings among the arm chair sleuths. Hopefully I have not added to the problem.
To get a book written I aimed for professionals. That is, I gave my collection of notes to a literary agent, a cousin who is a published author and my son, who worked for a publishing company for ten years. My request to each of them was to write a book or find someone who would.
The agent did nothing. The author nearly panicked. My son became a father right then. I collected what was left of my notes and gave them to Michelle McNamara and Det. Clark. With my blessings,I suggested they take what, if anything, they found of value.
Eventually I gathered up those scattered papers and sent them off to a publishing on demand company. The first company wanted thousands of dollars and total control. I rebelled and took the papers to Booklocker.com. In my opinion one of the very few ethical POB companies out there, and I researched over a hundred of them.
