Believe it or not, my state has a serial killer. I was actually researching this fellow for a film before discovering the EAR/ONS. The main point for this was because in all honesty, I believe they caught the murderer because the murders stopped so abruptly upon his capture. Eleven possible victims are contributed to the killer.... nine are confirmed. Antwan Pittman was arrested and ultimately convicted of one of the two latter murders, which gives anyone involved the idea he was involved with the others. Personally, as a man who believes no one is guilty until proven so by the court of law, I believe LE made the right move in this situation and the serial murderer known as the Edgecombe County Serial Killer is in jail.
However, Pittman may simply be the victim of circumstance. I leave it up to you, the posters, his crimes true motive.
Here is the Wikipedia of the man known to be my state's most prolific serial killer:
UPDATE: 4/28/15 - In light of the cancellation of my EARONS film, PUNISHMENT, I have decided to dedicate all of my resources to creating a project about the Seven Bridges Serial Killer. With the help of several North Carolinians and dedicated arm-chair sleuths, I plan on releasing as much info about the case as possible using all media resources at my disposal. Thank you
A lot of murders for a small county -- I imagine there is a great deal of grief and anger in the community. Let's hope you're right and the ECSK is incarcerated. I read the article -- there was no mention about whether there is any DNA evidence.
Unfortunately, no. From what I understand however, LE indigenous to this locale have played the entire thing close to the vest so as not to allow an UnSub the chance to gain some attention, IF that is what he desired. It was a very strange and horrible thing for these people, as well as extremely recent. However, I've learned so much from the locals that I am just positive they got the right guy and DNA must be a factor but they're retaining that information. The contents of his court case surrounding the final victim was never disclosed to me, for which I can understand why... but they're slowly building more cases against him in proper fashion. He was up there with Ridgeway, almost to the "T" and all they would need is to tie him to the canonical nine to prove it.
As time allows and reports come out, I will be updating this thread. On a lighter note surrounding such a dark series of events for this poor community, bikers rallied in 2012 for a ride in memory of the victims, which I attended. It was a heart felt day and you could really see the relief of those people who agree with me that the senseless murders are over and the killer is where he can no longer hurt them.
*sigh* this guy is one sick puppy. Even if it wasn't for the Seven Bridges murders, he is a sick, sick man. Hard to believe that someone like this could be so easily overlooked for so long in a murder case, especially considering how long he had been on the sex offenders registry. I mean it wasn't that long and LE did justice as far as I could see, but damn.
nowhereman: If you didn't see Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey on Netflix...yikes. I was aware of most of that stuff but when it's all explained chronologically in great detail holy cow. Those FLDS people are out there.

sammyt: After the new 12-26-75 book, perhaps it's time for a similar investigation into the CPK crimes. Seems like there were a lot of dirty police chiefs around back in the day...

kg: Thanks SammyT. I have to give credit to SammyT for the fact that I am still plugging away on Coe. If it were not for his candid feedback and encouragement I am sure I may have landed in the looney bin a long time ago but most likely I would have quit.

kg: Dragnet Season 2 Episode 28, March 27, 1968. Amazon Prime. A 50+ year old breath of fresh air. The bad cops get a lot of press time. I wish we could hear more about the Sergeant Fridays out there giving all they have so we can have safer communities.
