The Original Night Stalker: Portrait A Killer spent a day or two fluctuating a sub-section of the AMAZON BESTSELLER LIST for One Hour Mystery, Suspense & Thriller Short Reads, it has returned to #54 as of this post:
Amazon Bestseller List -- One Mystery Thriller & Suspense Short Reads
I would love to hear more thoughts on this development....and how this compares/contrasts with other books on EAR-ONS.

I am familiar with this subject. There is a message board and forum at ProBoards devoted to the subject of these crimes and their investigations. At least two websites also exist which focus solely upon this topic. A relatively short time ago this author appeared on ProBoards asking questions of members of that community. He was honest about his intent to write a book based upon the crimes of the East Area Rapist/Original Nightstalker. It was apparent even then that this author was a lazy and clumsy researcher seeking a shortcut to a quick buck or two.
What wasn't apparent at the time was that this author is perhaps the least talented hack to (dis)grace the world of electronic publishing. That is something of a feat in an environ where anyone can publish virtually anything. To call this a book when at 37 pages it doesn't even constitute a short novella is just the beginning of this author's sales con.
If the author had removed any references to the Original Nightstalker, the victims of those crimes and the actual crimes themselves, this would just be an abysmally poor effort at short fiction by a bad writer. However because of Mr. Murphy's unfortunate choice to link his work to the crimes, the unknown offender and his victims, he has moved beyond just having produced an irredeemable (albeit mercifully short) waste of time. In the obviously brief span of time spent creating this travesty, Mr. Murphy has not only managed to disrespect and re-victimize the tragically unfortunate souls who were brutally attacked and murdered by this still unknown offender, he has also distorted and convoluted public perception and understanding of this psychopathic criminal's crimes, the known and unknown components of those crimes and perhaps most importantly, of the victims of those crimes.
There are Four (4) books (Hunting a Psychopath {Shelby}, Sudden Terror {Crompton}, Hot Prowl {Gray}, Frozen in Fear {Carson-Sandler}; all of which are worthwhile and informative reading experiences) and then this effort by Mr. Murphy written about the crimes of the East Area Rapist/Original Nightstalker. Of the Five (5) total works available, Mr. Murphy's effort is the least expensive and, in my opinion, it is worth significantly less than its $2.99 asking price.
I am an inveterate and long addicted reader who tries to find at least One (1) positive quality in everything I read. The positive quality in Mr. Murphy's, "The Original Night Stalker: Portrait of A Killer"?
I would have to say the brevity...it is only Thirty-Seven (37) pages too long.
