A FORWARD, ADDED/UPDATED ON MAY 9, 2017

The following post was one I made some time before I became a moderator when I noticed how the influx of newcomers can obviously lead to the resurrection of old theories that have been thoroughly discussed. I chose later as a the moderator to keep it all in tact as a way to demonstrate how time can change things, especially in a case like this. My initial point was to give those who discussed them first a chance to have their initial theories some shine because in all honesty, these are some pretty insane things to go through one sane persons mind, let alone be typed out for all of living humanity to read. 

What I have learned from this since then is that vigilance is the key to any great web sleuth! In order to truly understand where anyone, let alone EARONS is coming from, we must trek backwards into what is genuinely known. Reading through this forum all this time later with everything just as it was back in the past, I have learned that the possibilities still exist that conflict may arise from the things newcomers learn that everyone else already knows. That being said, my major recommendation now would be to STILL START OUT WITH BACK PAGES!

So much has been learned since today and especially since I initially posted this thread. Not only would starting your journey into learning about the crimes committed by the EARONS and his victims treasured lives, it would prove pivotal in your learning the steps and amounts of thought placed before your own when considering specific scenarios. Drifter, out forum administrator, has taken on a rather powerful task of looking into the past of the A&E forums which he saved as time went along before it became defunct, something that in all likelihood will occur here one day. The major point to gather from this is that these ideas and posts are VALUABLE from EVERY poster, including your own!

All I want is for you to be informed, educated and to honestly UNITE against the terror that was the pathetic being known today as the Golden State Killer(which is a journey you can watch unfold yourself starting backwards).

Hellooooo everbody!

My names Wesley, aka Murdoc and the local writer whose interest in making a movie about ONS became more of a case obsession. Like anyone reading this, I too was a n00b to the board when I came around in 12...or 13...whatever.

Anyyyyywho.... There are some things I thought to recommend in order to help enrich the newcomer whose interest came within the last year. Little things to help in catching you up on the case, which REALLY can help! I myself still follow on some of these

READ THE BACK PAGES: Every topic has been discussed. Period. These topics have threads aand pages upon pages of posts, rich with commentary that covers each possible angle. Are there things that haven't been said? Certainly! But most have and it will helpp you to not only learn this information but maaybe draw your own questions or theories out. Maybe, you'lll even catch something that had been missed. It's happened before

i know it's tedious, but worth it. The plethora of info dedicated to this case is irreplacable. Many have put their work into this case and its there for all of us to learn from

LIBRARY: Best section of the board. Absolute facts, media, theories from victims/investigators and such are peppered about here.

TAKE A BREAK!!! : Most important piece of advice I can give. Dwelling too much into this case about a mad man who affected the lives of so many through rape, torture and murder is not healthy and I feel in my heart that this is one big reason this man has never been captured. Even if you're brave enough to dig in like most of us have, it'll still mess you up. Take a break and remember how fortunate you really are before coming back, swinging!

It feels like you are trying to dissuade new members from posting. I don't know if this is directed towards myself, others, or new people in general but it feels kind of hypocritical coming from the guy who recently started the "cold weather-penile-shrinkage" theory or the "EAR celebrated Christmas just like me and you(a bit creepy and in really bad taste)" thread. I don't think anyone attempted to stifle or censor you. It is your right, here, to post any retarded thing as long as it doesn't violate the terms of service, code of conduct, forum rules, or the sensibilities of a moderator. In terms of moderation it seems like Drifter(and whomever else the moderators are) gives everyone, yourself included, a lot of slack and I personally find that to be a really positive thing in a discussion forum.

Any idea, or theory, should flourish based on it's own merits or die and be relegated to the back pages. If an idea, theory, personal anecdote or remembrance, claim, etc..... is proposed by any member, said member should be willing to defend, support, or offer substantiation. From my own personal experience I've learned that there are members here who do not agree with this outlook.

Hypothetically, if I were to join this forum and claim that my uncle was the EAR people would have questions, right? If I became outraged when people questioned me and couldn't support this claim with facts it would die. My hypothetical "Uncle is the EAR" theory would not weather the challenge of inquisition, peer review, or scrutiny that exists in a true marketplace of ideas. The provenance of good ideas is through the defense and defeat of these challenges.

I say, be democratic. I say, let bad ideas die. I say, let us not stifle or censor others as we, ourselves, would not choose to be stifled or censored.

I say, damn any imaginary or meaningless hierarchy spawned from cozening which would not value good over bad.

I've been aware of and reading about this case for 10 years give or take. I have seen all manner of con artists, charlatans, the mentally ill and unstable, police groupies, and outright fabricators pervade the rumour mill and be spat out the other end. I've also seen the self-proclaimed writer, filmmaker, journalist, poet, investigator, former cop etc... and I have read all their theories, stories, etc...ten times or more. They have all, for the most part, fallen by the wayside. I think to point you in the direction of the aforementioned back pages would be largely a waste of your time. I would suggest you not subject yourselves to it. Learn facts. Not conjecture or speculation. As best you can, new person, be discerning. There is lot of erroneous and fabricated information afoot.

you misunderstood completely mitchell. Its my fault though. I am horrible with my self proclaimed writing. Especially here.

I don't mean to censor, dissuade, attack, violate, condemn nor most of all hurt anyones feelings. I simply remember the frustrations with posts going in circles. It gets frustrating. I want posters to post but more than anything, i want everyone to learn.

Sure, the pposts posted will die with the topics generated in the threads. But so much was put into them I simply feel they should be acknowledged. To me thats keeping the words representing the stories and opinions alive more than anything.

I'm not trying to argue with you but simply stand by the purpose here. Please don't think I'm trying to keep someone from speaking about things they have to say.

And no mitchell, this is not solely directed at you nor anyone else in particular. It is simply here to guide anyone who may want to ask something that may have been answered.

Whille I am saddened by your sarcasm, I am understanding that you have your opinion against my recommendations. It is an opinion after all, just like I have the opinion that there may be someone interested in going back to the aforementioned topics.

Finally, in defense of my 'hermaphrodite theory', "Xmas theory' and 'Cold weather theory'...these are me trying to think out of the box. I would accept any opinion from any other user just as much as anyone may have tolerated my own. Including this topics purpose in aiding newcomers with direction if they were interested.

No. I appologize to you. I would just hate for anyone to feel like their ideas were any less valid because they are somewhat less familiar with the case than others.

One thought from another newbie:  I won't feel offended at all if anybody were to say, oh, we had a long discussion on that topic already.  Here's a link to the thread, go to page X and check out what poster xyz had to say. 

Our fearless moderator, Drifter, does that from time to time, and it's much appreciated.  It's also much appreciated whenever any forum member helps out, regardless of the number of stars next to their screen name. Like mitchell said, it can get quite tedious sorting through the old conversations.

I propose we employ dialectics. More specifically the Socratic Method.

It may help us identify disinformation, circular reasoning, emotional arguments, logical fallacies used to support hypotheses, etc...

We may not identify Truth here as there are many unknowns in this case but we could possibly reach consensus(i.e. The VR may have become EAR but it is likely/unlikely for theses reasons...).

Researching this as we speak and so far I see this is something we can hopefully build a genuinely new and helpful learning aide from. Particularly in helping to understand with our most muddled of deductive methods(meaning deduced, seeking a better word), which could help so much in understanding the variables and possibilities in our pursuit of the case.

If you want tedious btw, check out the AETV threads. Those are something special but WOW that's a lot of information. Everything we discuss has been touched on, discussed or thoroughly rung out to dry. Gotta give props to drifter for putting that up. It is a plethora of incredible information.

I am still in shock I think- there are too many coincidences here to deny that he most likely was the attacker and I'm at a loss as what to do. I guess I'm looking for something at this point that will rule him out so I can just go on with my life or confirmation that my suspicians are true.

Welcome to the board 1993 and I'm sorry that you were attacked.  I'm glad you contacted the FBI tip line.  They should be able to determine if he is the same offender by DNA.  Do you know if the police in Marin County had DNA from your attack?

Sorry to hear about your attack, 1993. Can't imagine how horrified you must have been when you saw all the news yesterday. Hopefully you'll be contacted soon by the FBI; if it is the same perpetrator, your information may be of immense value to law enforcement.
