Best Lead in 40 Years /Mishmac & Shelby fued/FBI push ?

Sorry but I have seen these three oft mentioned subjects posted but I haven't seen them quite discussed in tandem as there could ,theoretically be a link to " the best Lead in 40 Years", Michelle's descion to pull back her book release date (and it appears her book was at the publishers in December 2015 and ready to go to print (more or less) AND her ,I believe 'disagreement /fall out with Det.Shelby (which I swear I read was over a difference about the POI).
I really wonder how either (or both)relates to the current FBI/media push and how maybe they are all connected?
Please hear me out :
From what I piece together ...Michelle had her book pretty much "to bed" and the draft/galleys were with the publisher but she was tying up some loose ends due to supposed fact that at some point Michelle, supposedly stumbled on some type of new ,very exciting/game changing news about ,I assume ,either about her POI, new evidence ,a reliable tip panning out ...something ground breaking .
It was around the time of this discovery that after sharing this with Shelby they had a ,somewhat amicable falling out over a disagreement about this evidence/POI.
Michelle was not going to let this stop her and wanted to update/make corrections to the book prior to publishing ( I have read mentioned, but no source that I can find ,that this may have had something to do with a promotional business pen from a bike shop?).
Personally I think what Michelle discovered was much bigger than a pen and quite possibly ties into not only the FBI presser but the newish rumor of " the best Lead in 40 Years "(and am one of those people who believe ,had she been alive ,more evidence or "things to look out for if you suspect you may know who EAR/ONS/GSK may be " would be released and Michelle,may have been involved with giving this information to the FBI (apparently there's more than DNA linking him, it's been speculated certain "signatures " that LE has not realised link him to all the crimes -that we know of).
Am totally off base in linking these 3 things?
Do you think we my have gotten more info /new "evidence" froM the pressER if Michelle was still alive ?

I'm still just a newbie, but here's my take.

DrDoogie is the source for most of that: the book delay, the new POI, the fallout with Shelby.  He didn't go into much detail, but he linked it all together.  I'm sure you've seen the posts.  Everyone considers him to be a highly credible source. 

How MM might have been tied to the FBI media blitz, I believe that's all speculation. 

Forget about the pen.  That's an unrelated clue.  Someone was speculating in a thread.

It is what it is and be what it may I can't help but notice the two people who came across answers in this case are now dead and their one common link is still alive and the one original same constant in this case from day one. If EARONS were still alive and decided to write a book about his crimes, he would have to do it from memory or whatever notes he took and kept but most definitely his rendition of events would not come from the case files. It is not my intention to point fingers but I can't help but notice patterns whether related or unrelated. Just putting it out there for you to weigh in your own minds.

Related(ish): I would tend to view the supposed tiff between MM and Shelby as a mark in MM's favor. Shelby certainly hasn't solved it, and God knows he wanted/wants to solve it himself after all these years. It's the kind of hog-all-the-glory-for-yourself thinking that has plagued LE in this case since the beginning.

Probably as has been suggested. Someone contacted MM about a poi that LE was looking at. Could be anyone of a number of people. Don't know if this is current poi or a previous one.

Do you know why Michelle Macnamara was talking to Shelby in the first place? Did she request his assistance? About what? Or did Shelby make himself available by phone, email, in the flesh without Macnamara's request?

If he truly had a signature that was all his, it would be quite beneficial for LE to keep that part close. The MO is mostly standard ski mask B/E, rapist and murderer stuff, but the signature is all his. Hopefully, they get this idiot. It would be great if he had a brother or sister that came forward and offered a DNA sample. Somebody knows who this fool is, and hopefully, they decide that enough is enough and come forward.

If
the Dr.Doogie on here is the same Dr.Doogie I remember ages ago (like 10+ years) from my (long gone)WS days then yes he is a reliable source and I'm not stepping on toes at all (and frankly don't want to step on anyone's) but ,and it's killing me, I can't remember where BUT his was not the only account I remember reading about Michelle and Shelby's falling out and it was said it had to do with HER POI and an exciting lead she found *and not the pen,although that's an intriguing aside*.
I would like to think that even with a book deal Michelle would share what she found (whatever it may be with) with the FBI or whoever is supposedly handling this currently.

I understand that whatever linked 'trademarked' M.O that EAR/ON used at each crime needs to be held back (and that's as it should be ) but I really would love to know ,especially in light of other crimes that others have found that COULD be his work ,what she discovered as it was big enough to halt publication of her book.

It's probably hopeful thinking but I really believe something is brewing and being investigated right now...for whatever that's worth !

I am a Northern California native and my Grandparents and mother (who is a huge 'true crime buff') lived in Sacremento during the height of this and have no recollection of any of this which is very interesting to me and what got me started on researching and reading as much as I can.

From what I could gather when emailing her that a POI was being discussed amongst her and others. Shelby, Crompton,SAC LE, Dr Doogie, etc? This was late last year, OCT/NOV/DEC in that range. Struck me that it was most likely a tip about a POI, not developed by LE or anyone else more directly involved. That was my impression. It seemed to coincide with the long faced sketch, but I can't be certain that was it, as she passed, and I don't know if she would have said anything more anyways. There was along with that sketch a poi DNA sample being run. I thought that might be it, but perhaps it's the most current one.

Well, there's one thing about it. If you had given the investigators a tip and you thought they were dragging their feet Michelle would be just the one to light a fore under them.

There  is more than one interesting pen in the EAR cases.  

In one case, a pen not belonging to anyone in the family was found on a counter.

In two other cases, pens were found in the yard sticking straight up in the ground, as if deliberately placed.  One had a cycle shop logo and the other advertised a realtor.

They are significant if they belonged to EAR.  Were they a message or just part of his routine reconnaissance?  Perhaps it was easier for EAR to find the pen to take notes in the dark by flash or match light, with the weird vertical placement.  They could have been red herrings or like the odd handling of jewelry being  moved from place to place, perhaps that is just how EAR rolled.

I personally do not believe anything he left behind was by accident.

I agree.  I am personally fascinated by the movement of items from one scene to another and the leaving behind of items of unknown origin.  Then you also have items left in neighbors yards and homes and some almost literal Hansel and Gretel trails of items.  Even if this is all just some game that only had meaning to The East Area Rapist, these are concrete pieces of evidence.  We spend so much time pondering bizarre theories (and there is nothing wrong with that, I suppose, in moderation) but these hard pieces of evidence are left untouched by our dangerous minds.
