I have been visiting this site for a while and have been through many threads, which often contain interesting questions or details, sometimes on specific cases or with regard to specific clusters.
An example was the hanging mirror thread. In that thread a lot of questions arose regarding some contractor pervert who was eyeballing Janelle Cruz prior to her murder. Ideas were offered up that led to avenues of investigation no one is really sure have ever been pursued by local LE. Additional ideas have been thrown out on how to locate that mirror hanger guy, as well as questions to what has and has not been explored by LE.
This has led me to an idea. Maybe there should be folders somewhere on the site for each case. In each folder the evidence should be listed out, as well as any relevant information on what investigating has already taken place. Forum members have individually met with various past investigators and have been given information about a lot of random things that either were or were not looked at. This info appears in random past threads, but none of it is kept together.
Say for example someone reads a thread about the 31st rape case in Northern California. A question arises about whether or not in that case our boy EAR ate food from the victim's fridge. What people do in threads is ask. Sometimes another forum member responds, but sometimes not, especially if no one knows. If unanswered questions or un-pursued avenues of investigation exist, like open questions or unknowns, those should also be kept in folders for each case.
There's a ton of information archived on this site, but it's relatively scattered and needs to be organized. Many members come up with great questions or ideas that could potentially lead down interesting or fortuitous outcomes for the case. The great thing about this case is there were a lot of different people involved, lots of crime scenes, and lots of potential evidence and information out there that could lead somewhere. Because we have a group brain approach on this site, all of those ideas, questions, answers, all that random knowledge each of us has to contribute should go into a folder.
The other good benefit would be if a person has a question, they can check the case folder to see if the question has been asked or answered, or ever pursued. If not, the forum member can add it in the case folder, then additionally start a new forum thread about it to see if anyone can help. It would essentially be an approach where we can investigate as a group using one system of ideas.
