My wife and I love it here. New to Sacramento only a few months now and purchased a home in Fair Oaks. I knew nothing about this case until the 48 Hours episode about a month ago. Since then I've been fascinated. Can't drive any of these streets without looking at all of the greenery everywhere (tall hedges, dipping roads, hills with huge trees). It's lovely, but just so ... sinister.
I've learned that Fair Oaks doesn't have a PD (very low crime) and it's literally sandwiched between Carmichael, Rancho Cordova, Orangevale, and Citrus Heights. Which is really weird because, if this (Fair Oaks) is the only town without their own PD, then why didn't he attack here? Is it because he lived here and would be recognized?
It's just so strange, all of this. I meet new people every day, mostly older here (like 65+) and every single person I meet I ask "how long have you lived here?" When someone says, "we bought our house in 1971" I get this excitement almost because I want to ask them if they know anything about EAR, but then I realize - how creepy is that? To just move right into talking about a 40 year old unsolved case.
Then I'll just be driving and see a sign like Crestview Lanes and think oh, wait, that's where Big Top Pizza used to be. Or, I was once driving down Fair Oaks Blvd and saw a street "Del Dayo" with unbelievably massive homes and I wonder if that's where he struck.
Even creepier I wonder if he ever drove down my street. I'm sure he did. We're a stones throw from a few places he hit. Like 0.5 miles.
So, I'm excited to see what happens this year and if I can help solve this at all, I'll do my best.
With all of the artifacts this guy took from homes, someone HAS to know something. Someone has seen something that was odd and knows this person. No way it's NOT possible.
This is just unreal. He had up to date information about babysitters changing plans within hours. How? No social media postings.
How did he get phone numbers so quickly? How did he have the most accurate intel that was so reliable.
Incredible...
