Another poster suggested recently, that if and only if, I could show that all his crimes were committed for money that they might be more inclined to consider my theories. But I am hoping not to include my theories into this discussion. What I am interested in is seeing how many people believe that this is true. I suppose the basic assumptions for this question is that Ear and Ons are one and the same. That Earons killed the Maggiores. And that no other crimes be considered except the canonical Earons crimes.
I would also claim as a given that earons was a sadistic bastard that enjoyed or needed the act of rape and murder.
But was that the motivation for all the crimes? Or could some have been crimes of opportunity because he was already burglarizing a home? Or did he choose a home because he knew a drug dealer or other person lived there who had cash or rare coins, he needed money at that moment, and the rape was just part of his excitement? Could some of his crimes been motivated by his desire for notoriety or its impact against predominate society? Or did he choose his victims because of some type of revenge against them or their family or friends?
I find it hard to believe that these crimes didnt have a huge impact on the mental and emotional character of Earons, and didnt alter his view of the world and his perceived place in it. In terms of his evading capture for these crimes, he was successful, but I would believe that his personality flaws would absolutely manifest in some other aberrant behavior which would bring him notice. Particularly something which would incite his pride and temper and cause him to act without his usual planning. Considering his pride and success, would that not likely lead to more daring or challenging crimes? With this in mind, and the change in MO from Ear to Ons, is it wise to be so confident that all his motivations would be the same for every one of his crimes? I believe not. Is it wise to discard a theory that explains a number of his crimes, but for the fact that it doesnt explain every one of his crimes? I believe not.
I have a feeling I know what the results of the poll will be. I am hoping, at least, that some acknowledge that it is an assumption to believe that all the crimes have only one base motivation. That wont be known until Earons is caught.
