New edition A Family Member Speaks RE: Lyman Smith murders

It seems time to come out from the background. At least a little bit more. I am republishing Murder On His Mind under the Name A Family Member Speaks The Original Night Stalker.

The new cover is A Family Member Speaks  It can be confusing so I will clarify it here.  I am findons and Anne Penn and I am the granddaughter of Lyman Jones Smith.  I have wanted nothing more than to help make people more aware of this case, and at the same time try to tell people that My Uncle Lyman Robert Smith and his wife Charlene were wonderful people who should also be remembered as more than victims of a murderer.  So I have put my relationship and my family story into this edition so that hopefully it makes more sense as a more complete story.  This edition is approximately 498 pages.  Certainly it explains my interest in whether or not this case is ever solved.  So, I wanted to give the good people here a heads up that I have completed this.  I will eventually be taking the first edition down as this version will replace it.  That is my hope.  This book has what my thoughts are after investigating the mindset of the man known as EAR/ONS.  Original crime information is included from EARS beginnings.  When I told Larry Crompton what I thought he immediately had volunteers who work on the cases call me.  Later I asked him why he had done that and he said "What you were saying could not be ignored"  Following is the description on Amazon so far:

findons, I'm sorry that you had to suffer such horrendous and personal loss at the hands of EAR/ONS. It had to take amazing strength and courage to step forward and tell your story. I can't wait to read your book.

Thank you for sharing your experience of losing someone so dear to you at the hands of this evil man. I'm so sorry that you and your family have had to feel and live with such pain. To have never had any answers for all of these years has to be extremely painful as well.

Now, I want more than ever to see this case solved. It's time.

Thank you honeybutt,  It has been a struggle to put the entire thing out there.  I am glad it is done.  My grandparents were wonderful people.  I would not be here without them.

Hi Mia, Thank you for your kindness and your support.  My grandfather at least lived long enough to hear of the DNA connection and that it was a serial killer not someone known.  He passed away on 2001 at almost 93.

So I read something above that I didn't know, or didn't remember..... "effect the murders of Lyman Robert and Charlene Smith had on Lyman's father as well as the rest of the family that lived in Sacramento"

That is very interesting. Dr Offerman who was also murdered had practiced or lived in Sacramento prior to his murder.  What are the chances that a Sacramento rapist moves to southern CA and then kills 2 diff people with ties to Sacramento?? I think that is worthy of investigating. I wonder if you looked might you find connections between your Family and Robert Offerman?

There are so many coincidences and connections.  I appreciate the tip.  Some are investigating ties years later and continue to as you have imagined. When I found out that EAR was the same guy that killed my grandfathers son it blew my mind.  I lived in Sacramento from the time I was born until 1984.  I will look into your tip. Thanks.

Yes it is right? lol.  Just wanted to tie it to the same subject matter and note that it is edition 2.  I was told not to put personal info in the first edition.  Trouble was it was not the full story so here it is with many names on the cover.   I have been changing the cover - stay tuned.  I just was making a statement to some by putting my name on the cover.  I have removed it.  I will be removing something else soon.  Thanks!

My deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy go out to you in the loss of your beloved uncle and aunt. It takes tremendous courage and bravery to come forward and speak about such a heart wrenching event, Laurie. I greatly appreciate your strength and tenacious spirit.

Furthermore, I think it is a meritorious achievement to be able to convey such a traumatic event in written form. I really look forward to reading your book, Laurie, and wish you the very best.
