I found that piece of information interesting...how GSK possibly could have commuted to the bay area for work at the time, and took advantage of the opportunity to stalk/prowl new areas off of I-680.
I had this crazy vision of a single guy (EAR) driving in his car and nobody having any clue that he's dangerous. I think that someone who operated purely as a sociopath would have very little interaction with other people, so the chances of EAR having any friends/co-workers who knew him well would be very small - possibly non-existent.
I think he was the type of guy who was quiet, rarely laughed or smiled. Most people who came in contact with him may have perceived him as boring or quiet.
I'm sure everyone can faintly remember people in their lives that they briefly met and just had an "off" feeling about them.
I remember going to a heavy metal concert in the early 1990's with my buddy who played guitar in my high school band at the time. I showed up at his house and he said that his buddy he worked with would drive us to the city (I grew up in a suburb about 45 min west of Chicago).
Anyways, this guy shows up in a gray colored (flat gray more like primer than paint) old Chevy and he just played the radio really loud the whole way to the show and back and drove really fast. But he never showed any expression. Not once. The whole evening. Even during the show. Just lifeless. Vapid. Just one of those guys who was tall, quiet, unassuming, but never laughed or spoke really.
I think EAR was exactly this type of guy. "Touch and go" in public life.
I don't even remember the guys name, but I do know he was my buddy's age and we all went to the same high school. I don't remember seeing that guy EVER around campus, but he definitely was a student at my high school.
I don't think EAR/GSK ever got close enough to anybody in his life to open up and tell people about himself. He was always alone and he preferred it that way.
