Why Im so fascinated by this case..................

Its weird, but once I started reading about this case based on the E show special I saw on it back in 2009, I was hooked on, the more I read the more fascinated I got. Im originally from L.A. but been living in Visalia, CA for 5 years now. And on and off since I was young. Then when I found out that he could possibly be the Visalia Ransacker sent chills up my spine, and how a Professor from COS was killed and I did a semester at COS, I also have a friend in Irvine which is Where Janelle Cruz his last victim was found, and when I heard she went to Job Corps in Utah, I was like wow! I also went to Job Corp in Utah, not the same time she did, but its weird how Im so fascinated with this case and I find that I have connections with it! Well I was born and raised here in the Golden State where he's done all of his stuff. I sure hope he is caught! Nobody messes with my state! He deserves justice for all the horrible that he is done. What I find interesting is they say that the Visalia Ransacker never took things of value from the houses, which is weird cause robbers usually take the most expensive stuff, the way I see it I think others might see it too, is it was just a way for him to see if he could get in the house, it was his first step in his plan, he was like lets see if I can sneak in without getting caught and Ill take something as a souvenir it will be my prize for getting in. then he moved on to the rapes in Sacramento, he got cockier hes like I can sneak into houses now Im gonna rape, after that he proceeded to murder which was his intention all along. it was like he was climbing the ladder and to get to the top he had to do all these small steps first. But like they say theres never a perfect crime, killers always leave something behind. its obvious with all the info the detectives are finding, Im sure he will get caught.

I have to admit I've become obsessed with this case, too. What disturbs me is if the GSK is not caught in the near future, will I continue several times a day to read the posts? This obsession does take away from other things I could do. Have long-time board members been this obsessed for years?

Yes. I'm not a long time board member, but I've been aware of these crimes since the murders in S. Cal. And cannot accept the fact that he has not been caught. For me, it's the psychopathology that is so compelling. Don't feel guilty about spending time on this. Most people waste their days on far less important pastimes. You can obsess about grown men running about a field with a ball, you can watch the Kardashians burn through husbands, or you can help keep up public awareness of a monster in our midst. The more attention this case gets, the more likely he'll be caught. If nothing else, it's a puzzle, and they are good for your brain.

Living in Visalia, you no doubt can relate to much of the VR discussion. You might want to check in with: "dengas" and "zforce", two posters who have lived in, or currently live in, Visalia. Both of them have tons of info on the VR case.

Thanks, Agatha. That was well-put and made me feel better! I'm not a sports fan, and loathe the Kardashian's. I think the psychopathy and the puzzle aspect describe why I'm interested. I would love for the collective minds of the board to be of help in solving these horrible crimes.

You are right that trying to identify EAR/ONS is a worthy cause, and it should be Oreo cookies and chocolate milks for everyone, and that celebrity culture is a joke, but that is no reason to denigrate sport...

Yes, mb some of us have been at this for many years. It has taken away from some things but it is worth it. Justice will be done..

Having spent the last 9-1/2 hours watching football (and still watching), I'll give you the inane Kardashians but lepke is right again...no reason to denigrate sport some of us have spent the better parts of our lives chasing down a track or after a ball. Besides...if you can gamble on it consider it more like a business enterprise. Just saying.

That's ok, Agatha. I'm with you on professional sports. I'm surrounded by devoted football fans, and it seems as if there's a game every night. No wonder I've turned to my obsession with the GSK! I do, however see the value of sports with kids, and the lessons learned, as long as they aren't driven by overly ambitious and controlling parents.

MB - I am glad that you brought this up!  I, too, check this board multiple times a day.  It is good to know that several of us are admitting to it!  My husband is, also, relieved that I have found this board!

My name is Sandia, and I'm an addict! I would say LOL but unfortunately I have come to the realization that is is true and has been getting worse and not better. I've been at this about 4? years now. So here is my New Year's resolution which I plan on implementing right now. I am not going to read this board until the evening. This has actually taken over my life and I need to reclaim it. So I hope I don't have to go to rehab, and I am hoping I am not like the alcoholic that says this is my last drink and then immediately falls off the wagon. So I am going to sign off and not check in until this evening and maybe not then depending on how much Christmas shopping/wrapping/decorating/office work/house cleaning/laundry etc. I get done.
