There was a nudist camp called Rawhide Ranch in Wilton which is near Rancho Cordova that was operating in the 1970's. It still exists today with a new name. I located reports of child molestations that occurred in the 1970's and 1980's associated with Rawhide Ranch. The ranch was mostly trailers and mobile homes back in the 1970's and 1980's and was a place where clothing was not encouraged from a source who was familiar with the location. I just interviewed a person who had been molested at the location when they were 11 years old and my same Old Patrol Guy (OPG) from Sacramento Sheriff. The Ranch did everything they could to keep the sexual crimes from making mainstream media news according to my source but never interfered with an LE investigation. As you might imagine they had a few residents who were convicted of past sexual crimes but this before Megan's Law and only LE knew who they were and that they lived there.
I bring this nudist camp up only as a possible location for criminal activity although there is not a connection to EAR at this time the residents of this alternative lifestyle community do interest me in regards to possible family member connections to EAR or a place where (if you believe EAR learned his trade from another person) a mentor to EAR might have lived. I do not think EAR would have lived there during the series since it would red flag him as a suspect with that address but he might have had a connection to someone who did.
I do not think or believe the general population of Rawhide Ranch was all sexual perverts or criminals, however, I have it on good authority from a trusted LE source that there were a few who would have been on the sex offenders list had it existed back then. I also have located crime reports that were connected to the Ranch by location or resident or former residents.
