It could be the guy who showed up at the hospital had nothing to do with being EAR and the person who reported it might be him was nervous and worried and just wanted to report in case it might be him.

I literally grew up 3 blocks from this attack and lived and played in this creek. If no one was actively chasing EAR as he left 4th Parkway - he probably just strolled away in the dark to safety. Probably lived near this area even. We do not know. What I DO KNOW is the area of the attack because I lived there 18 years.

Just a couple of questions. Is this Morrison Creek you're talking about? I can't see any other creeks in the area (I'm not from Sacramento). If they somehow knew that he had fallen into a creek, I can't imagine that they'd be referring to any other one. And if he did fall into Morrison, I'm guessing it would probably be the part of the creek that's either due west of the crime scene (I believe the dogs tracked him west over to some trees between the 4th Parkway neighborhood and the highway, where they lost him (near VW or Porsche tire tracks), and where he could have continued west to the creek, or gotten into a car), or northwest of the crime scene (along the highway, where the creek turns east). I can't imagine it would have been the part of the creek that's directly north of the area, because that would have required him to pass through a lot of residential neighborhoods to get there.

But I agree with you that it's strange that they would say they know (or maybe think) that he fell into a canal if they're weren't chasing him, which I don't think they were. UNLESS perhaps he was spotted later and farther away from the crime scene, near that canal or another, and was THEN chased...but still got away.

I am sure that current LE is fairly confident before they go spouting off about leads. For instance, we do not know if dogs tracked the scent to a fence line or whether someone witnessed the fool running away and jumping the fence. You can bet that LE is fairly certain that the ID is part of the entire case, and it, along with the connections to the hospital, and possibly attack 22, make for a compelling lead.

The foolish thing would be to ignore all of this because it sounds like it is not possible to connect all of these things--- Doing that would be the foolish thing. LE might be on the cusp of actually finding the idiot. They might have a good 3D picture of the fool, they might get a lead with the china or the rings, and they might connect someone with a broken shoulder to all of this if someone decides to open their mouth. Regardless, someone knows the guy with the broken shoulder, and I am sure LE wants to meet up with him to see what he knows, and what his DNA has to say!

Thanks. And yes, I've been dragging my feet about the books--I'll pick up a copy. It seems to me that going through Sky Park (I assume that's the one with the softball fields in it) to Steiner would require him to be pretty exposed for however long it took him to get to the canal (although yeah, the lack of fences there would make that part of it easier). Seems like going straight west to the highway and the more commercial areas there would be safer. And as far as being spotted goes, I was thinking maybe an hour or two later--not during the initial escape--when LE might have seen someone suspicious farther away who bolted when they tried to check it out...

Yes it would be foolish not to follow every lead - It is compelling - I am just saying he was already gone by the time LE got there. Wish LE would find him as you can imagine.  I am saying it is possible that the guy  with the broken shoulder may not be him.  All leads should be followed and likely were 40 years ago.

Yes he would have been exposed for just a short few minutes going through Sky Park - could have followed the fence line.  I agree going west towards the highway might have been the safest route.  I will check to see where the closest overpass over highway 99 was there.  There was one Off Underwood Way that dropped into the Bowling Green neighborhood.  Too far for this escape I think - maybe one closer (florin area) If he was smart he got inside somewhere as fast as possible after this attack.  All speculation of course.

If he utilized Morrison Creek to escape to the west, is the tunnel under Hwy 99 accessible for an average-sized adult? (I have theorized that EAR used a culvert under I-80 for his escape from the Gold Run attack. Perhaps he used a similar escape route here.)

You can bet that the ID can be connected in some way to a B&E that resembles the EAR MO in some way. LE has more at their disposal than any one person or all of us combined. They are not just chasing rabbits down holes at every turn, and they probably will only let us know what is very possibly something that will lead to the fool. Imagine if they constantly put out info like this that is not even close to the case? They would be inundated with so much meaningless stuff that they could never go through it all. There is way more to this than we know, and when it is finally given to us, we will understand why LE is looking into possible connections. I bet that there is someone looking over their shoulder right now wondering if a friend or family member dropped a dime about their prior shoulder issue from the 70's!

Being part of the Longshoring Union was a great thing back in the 70's. Just sign in, and work when you want to. Great Pay. Plenty of Croats worked in the union as well. Especially down south. Much more dangerous back then.

I wonder if Marina Ruggiero had some relatives or friends at the wedding who were part of the Longshoring and Warehouse Union. Seems very likely.

I would bet money a great many C130 loadmasters went on to work in that Union as well.

I wonder if they had any contracts with Coors or something similar. Or maybe some agriculture Coops? Or some maritime and aviation painting companies?

Back then it really meant something to be a Union Man.

On the day he claimed he was injured, LE had chased EAR and EAR had jumped (over something or just down something) onto a street or freeway ramp. Not positive it was a ramp, but anyway, it was a long jump in the dark and LE believed it could have caused a serious injury (beyond band-aids).

The info the POI filled out on the medical form was bogus.

Currently, LE has selected MO and/or signature behaviors of EAR (consistent petty theft is one). They are reviewing ALL old case files to look for petty thefts etc. that show these signature EAR behaviors. They have reviewed 35,000 cases. They are finished reviewing 1973. They have reviewed at least 5,000 burglary and/or petty theft files. So they are doing the kind of profiling now that may lead to him. They said they do have a string of crimes they believe to be his. 

Exactly what I have been seeing all along in old reports. There is a pattern I have been posting about for quite some time and I believe they will discover what I have seen that helps support the Rancho connection and surrounding area during the VR series. The activity is from early1973 all the way to 1976 in and around Rancho and surrounding areas that are connected to the EAR series during the sexual assault period of EAR crimes. He was very active and learning his craft here in the Sacramento area and I believe LE will be able to connect them through MO.

can anyone release the dates and times of those crimes?
I wonder how they line up with VR dates and times?
Is it possible that he was a back and forth kid? Or does this B&E crime spree that's been discovered overlap with VR, thus making a clear case that VR is not EAR.
