Greetings,
New Member here.
In 1981 I moved to East Sacramento near “Mayhew Road” and 50 Freeway in the neighborhood of “Rosemont” I also lived on “Mira Del Rio” along the American River Bike trail as well. 1981 was of course after the attacks in the area however, I was all over the area outside in the community on the trails I know it well, as a kid was even a paper boy and know allot of the area. To my surprise I bought a house years ago only to find last week (when this case gained more publicity being the 40 year anniversary ) several of the early attacks are down the street where I once lived and where I now live. Just some details, I keep hearing in the attacks they refer to the area as “Rancho Cordova” however, East of Watt Avenue along the River was actually Sacramento County, and Rancho Cordova at the time of the murders was not an incorporated City. Not until July 2003 East of Bradshaw along the River is The Incorporated City of Rancho Cordova. Also interesting is the Sacramento Sheriff Department made a contracted with the City. (Just filling some details some may not be aware of). Another fact many may not know
the area wasn’t really what I would call affluent just young couples starting out i.e. younger ladies. The media seems to make it seem as more upper class it was more of a working class area contractors, school teachers, military, state employees. This was an affordable less expensive to live than closer to the city. North along the River is MUCH more affluent “American River Drive” over one million dollar homes now without any renovations, and where I do not believe any Attacks occurred? as opposed to “La Riviera” south of the American River where condos and duplexes even apartments are located my mom was a part-time employee and father a bus driver for Greyhound (not middle class IMO). I just wanted to introduce myself and offer information to any answers some may have of this area, as I am really knowledgeable IMHO of the area and have a really good long term memory of how things were.
Law Enforcement Note
City of Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova Were not incorporated and were county Sheriff and the Attacks West of Watt Avenue were City of Sacramento Police Department. I am not sure if this was planned to keep crimes in different Jurisdictions?
Anyhow I want to do anything I can help to catch this guy!
