Hey all- first time poster.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion here and in other GSK /EAR groups about the incredible amount of preparation the offender did before an attack. Peeping, hiding out, monitoring activity etc. Everyone is amazed at his knowledge of the victims and his ability to strike at exactly the right time.
Well, this stirred up a situation that happened to me and I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on the theory.
I lost my father unexpectedly when I was 15. After his death we discovered that he had been tapping my personal phone line for several years. It was a simple device- only one connection directly to the phone line through a jack in the garage. It was attached to a very basic tape recorder. We had no idea it was there and actually found the tapes first. They were in a briefcase of which the lock code was my birthdate. I know, sounds like one of our cases right?
Anyway, my father was an electrical CONTRACTOR. He worked on housing developments all over Texas. While he was learned in electronics , my 15 yr old self could have installed this tap. SO simple and completely hidden.
Could the GSK possibly have been an electrical contractor or even worked for the phone company? I’ve done some research and attaching a recording device to the main box is also very easy.
To me,this would explain so much- knowing nicknames, knowing about new nightshift jobs, knowing about dates with boyfriends etc.
It would also explain the timelines and why there were sections of time between when stalking was noticed and the actual attack happened- he was just LISTENING.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
*Edit*
I believe that if he did work for the phone company and had access to the main box - he would be able to listen to anyone in the neighborhood. This might explain why he targeted houses so close together. It also could be the reason he was was in other cities and felt just as comfortable in them.
If indeed he was listening, his rhetoric with victims, nicknames, saying he saw the husband at the officers club etc. could have no basis in real life but gleaned from conversations he overheard.
