That is my recollection too, albion.  Just like the other car he was spotted in belonged to a drug dealer that was in prison.  It seems he used throw away cars that he probably bought for cash, gave a false name and didn't register them. 

So now I am confused about did he give information to the guard about who he was and the info was for a black male? or did the car come back registered to a black male.
Great question did they locate the black male and if so what does he have to say?  or was he deceased or in prison too? 

LIGHTBULB JUST WENT ON UPSTAIRS:   in the Offerman robbery/beating it was suspected that BG and "an Accomplice" did it.  That is now in question in my head, however "The Accomplice" was a very bad guy, subsequently took part in at least one murder, just can't get it cleared up if it was one or two murders, somehow was free until recently.  Port just posted on the board that he is currently in jail in Arizona.  The Accomplice is part black, from Sacramento lived in Goleta.  I've been wondering for a long time if HE isn't the connection to GSK and could HE or one of HIS relatives sold the car to GSK.

  How I wish some of these things could be cleared up for us.

Why was he trying to get into the base?  Why was he trying to get into the base on false pretenses?  So he didn't belong at the base. 

There are so many clues, so many questions!

Sandia - I am interested in the Aerojet connection to EARONS. Aerojet locations in Rancho Cordova and Utah and Janelle Cruz seem more than a coincidence. Please elaborate for those of us that did not know this.

Well, I don't want to make too much of it as I stated that EAR/ONS used throw away cars.  So the AFC situation may or may not be important.  I did report the AFC connection to Sacramento Sheriff's detective working the case quite a few months ago and they seemed interested.  I have no idea what has come of it, obviously the crime has not been solved yet.  I did tell the detective what CSFF found.  AFC/Aerojet/Rancho Cordova/San Ramon/Clearfield, Utah/Janelle.  How many degrees of separation?  Could all be a coincidence, I don't know.

There are soooo many possible connections in this case that it boggles the mind.  military/construction/real estate/medical/school/drug/etc.

The Clearfield, Utah connection is probably the most remote but who knows.  AFC had offices there and Janelle went to Job Corps in Clearfield, Utah.  I just wonder if it is a possibility she ran across him there?  Did he work at job corps, did the kids from Job Corps go into town for movies? ice cream? etc?  A lot of the kids were there for drug problems, could they have had an opportunity to score drugs on an excursion into town?  I'm just allowing my mind to visualize different possibilities.

I have brought this up to a few members on here but I believe the AFC decal relates to Aerojet. In the 70's Aerojet Fine Chemicales (AFC) was huge with working with military bases. I have read threads on here that some others have brought up the AEROJET theory as well. I couldn't find much of a connection for Aerojet in Goleta but I did notice Raytheon and Aerojet did work together on certain projects. Raytheon seemed to be pretty relevant in the Goleta, Santa Barbara area.

AFC also has offices in Clearfield, Utah.  Janelle Cruz went to Job Corp at Clearfield , Utah.  I believe there is a military base there too.

I did a lot of research on Aerojet last year.  They are unlikely to be related to the decal. AeroJet didn't become "AFC" until 1990's. The decal is most likely related to a "missile recovery" defence contractor working at Pt. Mugu.

Thank you Tracker for your hard work, excellent research and dedication to this case.  Looks like both you and CSFF were on the same track.  I just went to one of the links you provided though and it seems like it says something different.  You said  "AeroJet didn't become "AFC" until 1990's."  but at the link you provided it is stated the company "used to be" known as AFC.  Here are two quotes I've cut and pasted "ACF is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Pacific Corporation (AMPAC)"  "AFC was formerly known as Aerojet Fine Chemicals, a division of GenCorp, Inc."

So it says it used to be known as Aerojet.  My question is where did you see that it was not known as Aerojet before 1990?  I don't want to give up on the Aerojet connection too easily since the main office was located right in the heart of Rancho Cordova, offices in San Ramon (Contra Costa County connection) and Clearfield, Utah (Janelle connectionn plus an airforce base located there) and they manufactured rocket fuel etc. 

It would be an exciting find to locate where that sticker originated from no matter where it turns out to be, but I'm worried that the car with the sticker was probably another one of his throw away cars that he purchased for cash and didn't register.

This document shows that Aerojet was still calling themselves Aerojet in 1980. However, they may still be involved even if "AFC" in 1979 is not them.

Well, I guess that is right.  We really don't know that.  We do know that the one car he was suspected to be sitting in was still registered to a drug dealer and the drug dealer's father cannot remember who he sold the car to and apparently didn't send in the required paperwork to the DMV to report it sold.  I think the father also had trouble with the law, was he protecting GSK?  There has to be a limit to who criminals will protect, one would think.  I'm not saying the father was a criminal but I think I remember he had trouble with the law, so I wonder about him.

Then the car (I think that was the one with the TOR license plate?, starting to get mixed up on which car was which) that tried to enter the San Diego base.  I'm not clear if that car was registered to a black male (the driver was white), or did the ID given to the guard come back as being the ID of a black male?  Help, it's getting confusing!

Anyway, I mean by throw-away car, a car that is purchased for cash and not registered so it cannot be traced to the driver and can be left behind if he has to run.  It was mentioned at least once in the book that a sharply dressed man thought to possibly be EAR/ONS  left in a ratty car.  I am guessing a throw away car.

Then there is the question of the tremendous quantity of cars he was seen in.  How did he have access to so many cars.  Because they were cheap throw away cars???

Of course you are absolutely right, we don't know that.  So yes, it is purely conjecture on my part.  So thanks for keeping me on track, redding, LOL.  Just remind me when I need a good reminding.  It's a good thing.

The GSK was not seen "in a tremendous quantity of cars." That is completely untrue. I have pointed this out to you countless times. This is exactly how rumors become fact in this case.

Yes, I think we all know that. It's more likely that he used his own car and parked it a distance away, but as to the possibility that he used a variety of cars to scope out the area, I mentioned some other possibilities if he really did use many different vehicles. 

O.K. redding, I'm properly chastised again.  You are right, we have to be careful not to mix fact with rumor.  In this case I am not the originator of this though.  I am guilty of having bought into what has been discussed on the a&e board countless times.  Also on www.ear-ons.com, Arch's site, there are pictures of a yellow side step pick up, a VW dune buggy, a vehicle with the license plate TOR, the drug dealer's that was in prison's car, the orange bmw etc.

No worries. It is good to hear that people are looking into things. By "his" car I only meant the car that he drove there. The dune buggy at Arch's site is a great example of misinformation. When I asked Arch about it he said that he thought it might be a possibility because some tire tracks were slightly wider than a vw bug. Nevermind the fact that the no one reported extra wide tire widths, and that no one ever said they saw a baja bug that was near a crime scene. He posted a picture on his website and it continues to mislead people today.  As for the yellow pick up.  Guessting has stated that the pickup seen near the Thornwood attack has been tracked down and cleared.  Still he continues to leave that information up as well.

You are reading things into my posts that are not there.  I am currently only commenting on two topics.  I am ignoring countless others that I don't have an opinion about.  I won't say that I think something is plausible if IMO I don't think that it is.  I would think that people place their theories on a message board to hear what other people think of them.
