I couldn't find any posts on this subject. Now that we have a list from the warrant, I think it's interesting to wonder which would have been kept as memorabilia. Some of it (I think) was obviously just later sold for cash. Some of it would have been difficult to hide from his wife. Some of it may have been given to his wife or someone as a gift. I suppose there might still be some or one remaining "trophy" items, but most of it would be long gone, I think. If he was really trying to stop, I think he would have discarded a lot of it.
If JJD still had in his possession any of the items stolen from victims, or they will be discovered to have been given as gifts, which do you think they might be?
Here are my top picks.
$2 bills
1888 silver dollar
Opal ring
Opal stick pin
(These I say because opals are a birthstone, and unless very fine or unusual are not particularly popular, and weren't in the 1970's).
I think the class rings and things engraved were taken just as an extra jab. It's unlikely he pawned them. I would expect they were discarded as too identifiable; probably not soon after the crimes, but by now when he's an old fisherman.
I also like the very small (sizes 3-5) gold rings. I noticed more than one ring of very small size. I'm a size 4 and it's been a matter of comment more than once in my life. [Don't go there, people, lol].
As an aside, does anyone know what kind of model r/c planes he flew? Most of those guys who are his age are very into the WWII planes. Don't ask. But it makes me wonder if the "Sears Clock Radio" was taken just because he liked it. It wouldn't have been of any particular value at that time, no matter what vintage.
Just ruminating. Thanks for reading.
