Chubby to lean? Very possible even in a 3/6 month period. A lot of it can depend on genetics but weight can easily fluctuate even for trained athelete types & consistent gym goers. I injured my knee 5 years ago..had been training 5 nights a week at a high level sport. Because I couldn’t move or walk & lost interest in my rehab for awhile I put on 21-25 kg( we use KG in Ireland for measurement). I had the same eating pattern after I got injured. I went from 7% body fat to over 20. I can see JJD easily smashing his calorie intake when he was committing these crimes. All the running, jumping, driving & of course adrenaline rushes. No wonder he was snacking away constantly sure you’d need some amount of food in general to keep energy levels up. I’d say in his late 30’s his metabolism had caught up with him as he wasn’t out running & crawling 10 miles a night. Scary thing about reading th cases is his ability to leap fences & cover ground quite easily..you’d be surprised but muscle memory is a massive thing with athletes, I’ve seen this coming back from injuries myself. I’d fear even JJD in his late 40/50s not in great shape would still be able to cover distances running if he had too. He might look like an average Joe but he was far from one in all instances.
100% agree. I am one of those people that can drop or gain pounds QUICK and my guess is JJD was as well. Over the last 10 years my weight has fluctuated from 185-225. Seems like every other year I have to diet back down to 185 but it doesn't take me long at all. I cut my calories back to 1400-1500 per day and my very physical job as a commercial lobster fisherman does the rest. It's nothing for me to drop 2-3 pounds a week on average. I also utilize intermittent fasting which helps a lot. Discipline, determination, & meticulous planning are key.
Point being, based off personal experience, I am not surprised at all that JJD was able to transform his appearance. JJD wasn't huge to begin with. Even just 15 pounds makes a big difference in a person's appearance when they don't have a ton of weight to lose. It doesn't take long for waist-lines to shrink and jaw-lines to become very defined. JJD was super methodical, determined, and self-disciplined so he certainly had the mental focus to cut weight fast.
