I continually return to this one. Something seems off.
Whitney Lane, 2am Sunday- A/C unit disabled, window screens placed on top of neighbors’ camper. He enters the house at will, removing the mothers purse to the back-porch area.
The three-bedroom home is just over 1700 square feet. From pictures the basic layout looks as if the family room, kitchen and dining were on one end with bedrooms positioned on the other.
Claude and his wife in one bedroom and Beth and her brother in the remaining rooms.
With the staging complete he enters Beth’s room. Beth states that she is crying and making loud dragging sounds with her feet (on the interior floor) as JJD removes her from the home.
Claude is moving through the home as JJD and Beth enter the carport area at front.
Claude is now yelling and has made eye contact with Beth. Coming up to the side gate, JJD (pausing or waiting?) fires two rounds. He kicks Beth in the head 3 times and runs off….
Activity at this location in the preceding months has “Primed” Claude to react exactly as he did.
2/5/75 Claude chases peeping tom from the yard. Shoe prints match VR and described as male in his 20’s plaid shirt.
8/2/75 Claude chases “older man” with large jacket, described as heavy. (Anyone , more info. on this encounter?)
9/6/75 Claude’s vehicle(s) broken into.
9/10/75 Beth reports noises at window. (was this reported after the 9/11 incident or was this discussed among the family prior to?
Jennifer Armour (body found 11/25/74) was “likely” a previous JJD victim. Reported missing 11/15/74 there is virtually nothing noted in local press regarding disappearance and the coroner’s report rules her death an “accidental drowning.”
During her memorial services there is a massive spike in VR activity.
We know that he actively pursued press and LE attention.
Some questions to consider- did he believe that
- he was NOT getting the press and attention that he deserved for the VR series?
- he was TOO smart and local LE was not piecing the trail together?
Side note-evidence and bodies left in multiple jurisdictions may serve a duo purpose, while minimizing LE cooperation it would maximize his media attention.
Claude Snelling – Journalism Instructor at College of Sequoias, a victim that could produce maximum exposure.
Could he have been the intended target from the start?
