To date there has been alot of focus on the abductions of the couples (when/where/why); of the age of the victims, esp the boys; of the locations where cars & bodies have been found and what we've come up with is:
- Couples not especially romantically involved, hence often initial get togethers
- Couples in their late teens / early 20's (other than Becky & Cathy - mid/late 20's)
- Young men (early 20's) physically fit, good looking w/ strong family ties
- Overall, responsible young adults
- Older cars that were the babies of the owners; usually had passenger seating
- Crimes occurred in early morning hours
- Crimes occurred near waterways
- Car scenes were often staged in such a manner as to taunt police
- Robbery & sex (rape) were not the focus, and usually, if not always, was not present
I agree with most of that and know I've left off some other significant & common details, feel free to add
Lately, however, I've been questioning a couple of things, especially as more crimes of abduction & murder have surfaced within the area
- Cathy & Becky's case (Thomas/Dowski) have similarities to Lollie & Julie (Winans & Williams) and both of these have some things not as similar to the other (CPK & other) crimes
- Craig Pettinger, Laurie Powell and Tammy Lynn Thorpe are all single people of varying ages, hence not fitting the above profile, yet Pettinger & Powell have ties to CPK victims (indirectly via Liberty Security) and yet circumstances around their crimes vary
- All the young men were with women that weren't their gf's or 'dates' per se
- Robbery/sex aren't the focus of these crimes, rather, murder & possibly torture of some degree seem to be (hunting to a degree)
- Waterways are significant in Virginia so this a significant piece to the puzzle or just a natural or at least expected occurrence... if you don't want bodies to be found isn't this the likely place to dispose of? were there other places closer to abduction sites where the bodies could have been disposed and remained hidden?
- What, if anything, do the girls in these cases have in common
- What are the things that have been taken / not found at the crime scenes (I don't know that we've focused enough on this, many, tho I don't believe, all have items missing)
- What items of the girls have not been found? / What items of the boys have not been found? **
- Approx how far have the cars been from the bodies
- In 2 crime scenes (Edwards/Knobling & Call/Hailey) the cars were located within miles of each other... other than that, they are spread out... does the locale of these 2 scenes relate to where they were last sighted or related to POI's dumping ground.. or both ? ... others?
- How many scenes are related to easy highway access from dumping grounds? possible abduction sites? (I think it's a toss up)
