CHASE DARKNESS WITH ME

I just wanted to comment on "Chase Darkness With Me" by Billy Jensen.  I've seen Billy Jensen on t.v. over the years, on "Crime Watch Daily" as a contributing reporter/investigator and on other various programs.  He was working on something with Michelle McNamara while Michelle was independently also working on her own book.  When Michelle tragically died, Billy Jensen and Paul Haynes took over and finished Michelle's book.  Now Billy has written his own book and although I've only just started Chapter 5, I decided to report on it anyway. 

All I can say at this point is that it is thoroughly enjoyable.  He talks about himself and his Goth years in high school, his youth, his relationship with his quirky dad and how he became interested in not only becoming a reporter and reporting on crime but how he wanted to solve the crimes.  

In my opinion Billy has great heart.  I really like him.  I think Billy is funny in a subtle way which I really enjoy.  

Billy, like his friend Michelle McNamara, wanted to take advantage of the wealth of citizen detectives that should be used to help solve crimes.  He sees the value of people on these discussion boards who do great research.  He wants to harness all the help and research we/they can provide ergo the title of the book "Chase Darkness With Me".

I look forward to reading about his experiences and the crimes he's been involved in trying to, or has, solved and the suggestions he may have for us to help.

I may be jumping the gun on making this review because I haven't finished the book but I just don't want to wait because I'd like others to know about the book and I'd like to invite others to review his book here.

I am now a big fan of Billy Jensen!

Good intentions Jensen. I like what he is trying to do. But when he does podcast commercials, it creeps me out. They should just let Holes do the commercials. His attempt at being seductive in the commercials freaks me out. And im a 6' 5" dude.

I've never seen Billy with a smile, so to me he looks a bit intimidating and (unfriendly?) so it surprised me to read his self effacing comments and his dry humor. I haven't seen the podcast commercials. Billy trying to be seductive? Do you mean intimidating or mysterious? When I read his opinions on crime, criminals, victims and their families, I see that he gets it. His good and caring heart becomes apparent to me. That's why I like him.

I also like the idea of crown sourcing and getting people involved in solving crimes.

But when getting the public involved I see potential problems. While there are responsible and talented people that can be utilized in solving crimes, researching etc., there are people that are irresponsible.

There have been those that think a person looks like a sketch for instance and have no qualms of accusing that person and posting that person's name and picture along side a sketch possibly ruining an innocent person's life. Things like that happened in this case, Vigilantes were involved in accusing an innocent man ruining his business and threatening his family. 

Some of that is happening right now in Delphi, Indiana. Minivan traveler is guilty of this as well as some others currently in the Delphi case.

So I look forward to seeing how Billy is going to go about getting the public involved.

I was referring to Jensen trying to have a seductive voice in his podcast budlight summertime commercials. It freaks me out.

Minivan thinks he is helping with Delphi. But he is indeed hurting things.

I'm reading the book soooo slowly. Just a little bit each day. I've got to say that I am so touched at how Billy adored his father. Loved it. Billy has such a good heart and he is putting his money where his mouth is has actually solved a bunch of crimes. He's trying to get us to crowd source. Billy is a hero in my book.

HA! Glad I'm not the only one. Book looks alright though. I asked Santa to drop it down the chimney.
