Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie Missing

I don't know if anyone has been following the missing person case of Gabby Petito from Wyoming.  She was traveling in a small white Ford van that had been converted into a camper with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie across country. 

They were visiting National Parks.  They left New York on July 2, 2021 and she was last seen in Salt Lake City on 8/24/21 checking out of a hotel.  She Facetimed with her mother on 8/25 and there were a couple of texts sent on 8/27 and 8/30 from the Jackson Wyoming/Yellowstone area.  Her mother reported her missing on 9/11/21 after she stopped getting responses from her daughter and Brian and his parents would not respond either. 

Brian had flown home to Florida for a couple of days 8/17/21-/8/23/21.  Rumor is that he went to put stuff in storage that was at his parent's home where they had both been living for the past year.

On 8/13/21, they were reported to the Moab Police Department for being in a domestic dispute where police found that Gabby was the aggressor.  Police did not file charges but made the two separate for the night.  A DV shelter put Brian up in a hotel for the night and Gabby was given the van.  Body cam video of this incident:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCGsW41aQEw

During the DV interviews, Gabby admitted that she had OCD and anxiety and had assaulted Brian when he locked her out of the van and told her to go take a walk and calm down. 

The van was located at Brian's parent's home in Florida and was taken in for processing on 9/13/21.  Brian has refused to speak to police and the police were directed to the family attorney. 

On 9/17/21, police reported that Brian had gone missing and his parents had not seen him since Tuesday 9/14/21.  The parents were now reporting Brian as a missing person.  The FBI is now looking for both Gabby and Brian.  

Gabby was an aspiring YouTube vlogger and had a Youtube channel nomadic statik along with an Instagram channel,  Only one video has been posted on the channel on 8/19/21 www.youtube.com/channel/UCsgnE460ebvgB1I30gwuLkw/videos.  This video now has 1.7 million views. 

People have speculated that this is a publicity stunt to get subscribers for the YouTube channel.

Brian had mentioned during the DV incident that Gabby and he wanted to go Wwoofing down the Pacific Coast.  wwoof.net/  and wwoofing would actually be a way to keep them off the grid.  Living and working at these farms would give them room and board in exchange for working on the farm for half of each day. 

This case had gotten incredible national media attention.

Been following it too. Had not heard the publicity stunt angle, after watching the police footage, kind of doubt that. Would assume they could track her from cell phone use, but haven’t seen a mention of that.

A couple believes that they gave the boyfriend a ride around the time that Gabby last was seen. They reported it to police and now have posted their story on social media.

Brian was hitchhiking alone, said he was camping rough while his girlfriend was staying in the camper van working on her web page. They though his pack was very light, he didn’t have a tent, said he was sleeping on a tarp. He offered to pay them $200 for a 10 mile ride, which the witness and her boyfriend thought was odd. At some point he freaked out, asking to be dropped off before they got to the town he had said was his destination.

If this really was Brian , the info provides a date, place, and behavior (he was alone, acting oddly) that may be help fill out the timeline on Gabbys disappearance.

FBI has said that human remains found in Bridger-Teton National Forest are consistent with that of Gabby Petito.

Human remains believed to belong to a Florida woman reported missing after her fiancé returned home from a monthslong van trip without her were found in a national park in Wyoming on Sunday, the F.B.I. said at a news conference.

“Earlier today, human remains were discovered, consistent with a description of Gabrielle (Gabby) Petito,” said Charles Jones, an F.BI. agent, adding that a full forensic identification had not been completed to confirm the remains were those of Ms. Petito, 22.

“On behalf of the F.B.I. personnel and our partners, I would like to extend sincere, sincere and heartfelt condolences to Gabby’s family,” said Mr. Jones, who did not take questions at the news conference. “As every parent can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for the family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. We ask that you all respect their privacy as they mourn the loss of their daughter.”

A cause of death had not been determined, Mr. Jones said.

The remains were found in the area of the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area, located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest on the east boundary of Grand Teton National Park, Mr. Jones said, adding that the campsite will remain closed. Anyone who had been in the camping area between Aug. 27 and Aug. 30 was urged to contact the F.B.I., Mr. Jones said.

The discovery of the remains believed to be that of Ms. Petito appeared to end one search for a missing person as another continued for her missing fiancé, Brian Laundrie, 23, after his parents told the police they had not seen him in days.

Mr. Laundrie, whom the police have called a “person of interest,” had through a lawyer declined to speak with investigators, the police said. When his parents told the police that he, too, was missing, a search for him began that included scouring a vast Florida wildlife refuge.

Lawyers for the Petito family and Mr. Laundrie did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday night.

As the police, F.B.I. agents and National Park rangers searched for Ms. Petito in Wyoming, the woman’s last known whereabouts, according to her family, the authorities in Florida searched for Mr. Laundrie in the refuge, a 24,565-acre park in Sarasota County called the Carlton Reserve. On Sunday afternoon, the police in North Port, Fla., said their search at the Carlton Reserve had ended for the day with nothing new to report.

The North Port Police Department said they were “saddened and heartbroken to learn that Gabby has been found deceased.”

Ms. Petito left with Mr. Laundrie in July in a white Ford van outfitted for a cross-country adventure. On Sept. 1, Mr. Laundrie returned to the home in North Port, Fla., where he lived with his parents and Ms. Petito, in the white van that the couple had used for the trip and that had been registered to Ms. Petito.

Ten days later, Ms. Petito was reported missing by her parents on Sept. 11, according to the police.

In the days after Ms. Petito was reported missing, the authorities expressed “frustration” in their efforts to speak to Mr. Laundrie, who has not been declared a suspect in the case.

The case has drawn widespread attention, as reporters have gathered outside Mr. Laundrie’s house and some in the public have scoured the couple’s Instagram accounts, which depicted a seemingly carefree, nomadic “van life” in the American West.

Ms. Petito and Mr. Laundrie left New York on July 2 for what was supposed to be a four-month, cross-country trip visiting national parks, said Ms. Petito’s stepfather, Jim Schmidt. The couple posted photos and cheerful updates on Instagram and YouTube, and outfitted the van with a bed, tiny bookcases and plants and art.

But let’s not forget the Yosemite Hikers case where the FBI, so certain that the murders of Carol Sund, Julie Sund and Sylvina Peloso had been committed by some bikers from the Central Valley, gave the names of three of them to the press in Argentina. After the FBI’s behavior recently they badly need an unsullied win. We don’t even have autopsy results yet.

The Red White and Bethune video is what (my opinion) found Gabby.  I'm so thankful that they reviewed the video that they recorded during that trip looking for the van. 

I'll be really curious to see what the cause and manner of death are from the autopsy.

I don't think he intended to kill her if he did and if he is still alive, he should just turn himself in. 

No one has seen Brian since his return to Florida.  He parents have said he left the house to hike and they picked up his car at the park but how did Brian drive away from that house with all the media, cops and neighbors not seeing him leave?

I’m so old I remember when the whole country was ready to lynch Richard Jewell. A few years later they were ready to lynch the Duke LaCrosse team. More than a few of us want what we want when we want it. Even if it means abandoning the system of justice that he’s served us well almost all the time.

No one has seen Brian since his return to Florida.  He parents have said he left the house to hike and they picked up his car at the park but how did Brian drive away from that house with all the media, cops and neighbors not seeing him leave? 

His vehicle entered the area on September 1st around 10:30 am. At least one of the neighbors claims to have seen him after his return, mowing his parents lawn and going on a bike ride with his mother. One member of law enforcement saw him but did not speak to him. He has not been around for at least a week, possibly longer.

Per FBI : the county corner confirms the identity as Gabby, and that a homicide occurred, although the cause of death is not yet being released.

The boyfriend is still being called a person of interest , not a suspect, and his whereabouts still unknown.

What a horrible mess, one life gone and many lives permanently changed by this.
