From the 12-26-75 Facebook page:

As Sgt. Vaughan announced at the College of the Sequoias event last week, the book about the 12/26/75 investigation will be coming out on July 1st. Direct link below on the pre-order page with Genius Book Services.
As listeners already know, we’ve been extremely resistant to doing anything that puts a paywall between the case information and the public, or appearing to profit (in any way) from our work on the case. The podcast and other resources remain free from subscriptions, fees, and advertisers. To be absolutely clear, there was no advance for the book, and nothing has been “sold.”
So, what changed? Last summer, original EAR investigator Detective Richard Shelby wrote a convincing email message. The only way to reach a wider audience and affect change would come from putting this entire case into a book form: "It is a guarantee the book would be popular enough someone might force an official re-opening of the case." As any author will confirm, publishing a book has real, tangible costs, so this is where we are... We want the story to reach as many readers as possible, to affect real change, and the publishers are working hard to see that we meet that goal.
One really important point here is that this book is not "about" Joseph DeAngelo, and we’ve tried to minimize re-telling what has already been saturated in the media. The details about the EAR series and ONS homicides are minimal, and there is no speculation or conjecture about DeAngelo’s psychological motivations. There is only one person who knows that truth.
Instead, the focus is on the Visalia investigation led by Sgt. Vaughan, and on VPD Agents William McGowen and Duane Shipley who worked alongside him from 1975-78. As he confirmed in the presentation, John was an integral part of the 12/26/75 investigation for the past six years. Equally important, we also wanted to make sure that Claude Snelling is never forgotten; both as a member of the community, and as a brave hero to his family. This chapter was strangely obliterated from the media, and multiple references to the case refer to "twelve homicides." Finally, we hope that people will learn about Jennifer Armour whose abduction and murder clearly should have been included in DeAngelo’s plea deal, rather than being ignored and dismissed by the Tulare DA and Sheriff's Office.
Of course, the book is also about Oscar Clifton’s wrongful conviction. In Oscar's words from prison, here are the facts "for the whole world to read" about the wholly preventable and tragic results for him, his family, and DeAngelo’s later victims.
While the original podcast was a rambling examination of the case, assembled in real time as we were all putting together the information, the book has it all put together—including everything we’ve learned along the way, and what we curently know. In the short time between this post today and the release on July 1, we will be working to offer some new podcast content, post more of the original documents and photos on our website, and build a companion guide to enhance the reader’s understanding of each chapter in the book.
There will be more information about book related events as this information becomes available. In the meantime, here's the link for the publisher's page and a quick synopsis. As always, thanks for listening... and, soon we hope, for reading.
