Reposting: Prior to JJD being identified, I entertained the scant possibility of EAR/ONS having a female accomplice. My basis was primarily the odd couple spotted prior to the Offerman/Sanchez murder. I’m not trying to cast suspicion on JJD’s wife - I’m just reposting a couple old thoughts I had on the subject (edited for continuity), which I always believed was a long shot.
Lately, when I go down the accomplice rabbit hole, I have entertained the notion of a weirdly complicit and/or submissive spouse. Similar to the Scarsborough rapist, Paul Bernardo, who’s wife, Karla Homolka, was horrifyingly complicit in the crimes. I believe that Leslie D’Ambrosia’s ONS profile speculates that, if he was in a relationship, his spouse would be very submissive....
...I was initially dismissive of any accomplice theories. But after reading Winter’s book, I can’t dismiss the odd male and female spotted in Goleta hours before the Offerman/Manning murder (pg. 431-434). It’s too coincidental to ignore.
Morf,
A quick clarification. I believe the male and female were spotted at a separate burglary that took place before the sighting of the burglar that ran out of the house. Winters’ book places the odd male and female sighting in front of the home on Queen Ann Ln., between 06:10 and 07:30 PM. This house had an EAR-style burglary the same evening (b/t 5:30 and 9:30 PM). Twine was NOT present in this burglary, however, twine was found In the Windsor Court burglary that occurred a few hours later.
Later, at 10:20 PM (same evening) a couple on Windsor Court saw someone run out of their house when they were returning home. A piece of twine was found in the backyard that matched the twine found at Offerman/Manning. Shoe prints that matched those found at Offerman/Manning were also found (pg. 436).
There are parallels in both eyewitness descriptions that lead me to believe it was the same perp at both houses, and that perp was EAR. E.G. Queen Ann Lane: “dark blue jacket that went down to his hips, blue jeans...” and Winsor Court: “dark, waist-length jacket that was possibly dark leather, pants that were dark...” In my opinion, this suggests that ONS was spotted with a female accomplice.
