There was more going on in VR's burglaries than a little side of wanking with his theft. What was taken can't be so easily written off as simply an odd, but simple sort of burglary. Deep psychological components were present in those break-ins which shouldn't be swiftly dismissed, though they frequently are. He was making personal statements to the people whose homes he invaded. He was playing psychological games with the community he lived in. Well over 100 homes in a really truncated period of time, all within reasonable reach of his own home. Specific items he took or swapped from one home to another, the staging for psychological effect, etc. People who commit burglaries this prolifically against people they know personally as a sort of game are not common.
Those who don't want to see the very real potential connections between the person who committed VR's crimes and EAR are always entitled to their opinions on linkage, but merely scratching the surface of such a body of crimes and claiming it's all just so typical is a tiny bit disingenuous, imho.
I do not understand where this same comment keeps coming from suggesting I have my opinions based on rumors or some other form of information other than actually reading the reports. I based it on what I have seen and other offenders that I have come in connect with myself with very similar behaviors. I sorry if some of you don't like what I say about VR case but afterall that is the point to this board to express opnions. Just don't think I'm not informed because I am.
First of all, for nearly my entire time on this case I have been primarily focused on researching and immersing myself in Visalia and the Ransacker. My statement was merely that his crimes ought not to be reduced to "sexually related burglaries of an offender who has a sexual component mixed in with the burglary element" which is precisely what you did when adding the comment that "these happen everywhere" as if that's the whole story. If you really are as well-versed in this aspect of the case and have spent time with actual reports as I have, you'd be more careful making such generalized and dismissive statements about this offender. By the way, I actually said you were welcome to your opinion. You may be a little aggressive in yelling about your credentials and too quick to lash out at people who disagree with your opinions as being ignorant or necessarily less experienced with the case. That would be a mistake anywhere in this forum.
That said, I have no interest in a *ing contest with you. Should you be interested in a rational exchange of ideas, however, I'm always up for that. Cheers.
