Overview of the Delphi Murders

Back to the targets - I suspect the killer has committed a crime similar to this one in the past. IMO, this is why the killer had confidence in abducting 2 young, fiesty, seemingly athletic girls. Taking on 2 victims at the same time is almost unheard of.

The killer may have succeeded in carrying out a similar crime (or crimes) before, and got away with it/them. If so, the killer would have been replaying the crime/s over and over again in his head, fine tuning his ritual for his next attack.

The killer may have travelled to Delphi specifically to commit this crime. It's what serial killers have done in order to avoid such headlines as "similar crimes", "possible serial killing". Ted Bundy, the Riverside killer, The original Night Stalker (Deangelo),and Kemper all admitted to doing that (excluding Deangelo from the admitting part). I am only suspecting there may be previous crimes because of the fact that two girls were taken at the same time.

The man made contact with the girls at the south end of the bridge where it meets the land again.  Libby was standing off the edge of the bridge and taking the video in selfie mode.  Abby was close to the end of the bridge and it is believed that she was edited out of the most recently released video by the FBI.  Gray Hughes has done some very good videos on YouTube that positions the girls and suspect on the bridge. 

Police have stated that they are seeking a single suspect.  I imagine that they have some foot print evidence along with Libby's recording that helped them determine they are looking for one suspect.

I don't know for 100% the selfie mode is true but the theory is that Libby was trying to be discrete while filming the man approaching.  Once he reached them and told them to go down the hill, she left her phone recording and tucked it away someplace on her person.  I'm not a big phone user so I don't entirely understand the selfie vs. non-selfie picture thing.

Selfie mode is when the face of the phone if facing you, then you put it on "camera", then "switch" the picture mode so the camera takes a picture of the person holding the phone.  Then, you press the "take picture" button and the phone camera takes a picture of the person holding the phone.  So, if Libby was doing a selfie, it means she was taking a picture of herself and whatever is next to her or around her would be in the photo.  In this case, Libbey probably had the phone lifted so it focused on what was right behind her, which was the guy walking toward her.  From what I've read, at first Libby had the camera not on selfie (the camera was focused at what was in front of her, not her) and she pressed the "take picture" button of Abbey walking toward her  Then, she switched the camera screen to "selfie mode" to face her, lifted the phone above her shoulder and pressed the "take picture" button or "video" button and caught a video of the guy behind her who was walking toward her. So, her back was to the guy.  

I don't know if the video and the voice were recorded at the exact same time or if the voice saying, "down the hill" was recorded at a later time.

That would make sense that Libby was alternating between the different picture capture modes.  I still don't believe they knew they were in danger until he was within feet of them.

That would make sense that Libby was alternating between the different picture capture modes.  I still don't believe they knew they were in danger until he was within feet of them.  

There could have been an accomplice who could have been at the other end of the bridge, having the girls sandwiched between each them.

I don't know much about this case and I haven't looked at the surrounding area of the crime yet.  However, I've been thinking about it. 

This sicko A-HOLE may have been released from prison within 2-3 months of the crime. I do not think he is from Dalphi.  I also suspect he stalked the girls in the days or weeks prior to their abduction.

I think every single prison warden in America should be sent the video of the guy, the voice recording, and the crime specifics.  A warden or guard will recognize the b a s t a r d.

I don’t believe that true . LE have not released any info on the state of the bodies or even on the cause of death. The girls were found by volunteers in the search party one of whom was an uncle to one of the girls ( he is married to the mothers sister) there are s lot of rumors about the scene and the state of the girls but none that I have heard said there was an issue identifying the girls .

the most common rumor is that the girls were nearly decapitated , that Libby appeared to be a focus for the killer”s anger .the more credible rumors also suggest that the girls were not sexually assaulted. So those are rumors that are common or that I believe may have some credibility based on the source. According to one of the sources , the police with help from the fbi really did a deep dive looking at local people with history of disturbed behavior but couldn’t find anyone that whose past history and physical profile met all the criteria. It sounds like the cops are doing all they can to find the killer.

The police have s recording that goes on for some time after the initial video . I would encourage you to look up James Renner’s interviews with LE and Libby’s and Abby
families as it has a lot of helpful information. The police are fairly sure it was only one person. The police have a lot of information that they aren’t releasing .

They policies also know whose cell phones were in the area on the day of the murder and they followed up with potential witnesses that way. So the killer either did not have a phone with him or had it off during the murders.

finally the cops have some kind of dna , possibly a partial dna profile . After the gsk was caught one of the investigators consulted with Holes. Not all states require dna from felons , I think Indiana just began requiring it but if this was a former convict there is at least a decent chance that their dna would be in
CODIS.

Thank you for the quick briefing.  As I said, I'm not really familiar with the case.

Based on the very little I know, I was thinking the guy went to Dalphi to commit this crime.  He may have gone there because it was familiar to him from having lived there at some point, but I don't think he was living there when the crime was committed. He may have resided within an hour away, since he obviously drove to get there.

Thank you for the quick briefing.  As I said, I'm not really familiar with the case.

Based on the very little I know, I was thinking the guy went to Dalphi to commit this crime.  He may have gone there because it was familiar to him from having lived there at some point, but I don't think he was living there when the crime was committed. He may have resided within an hour away, since he obviously drove to get there.

Originally when LEcsaif he was from the area most were assuming they meant Delphi which is small with only 2000 residents but they recently clarified that they meant Delphi and the area around Delphi , ( it was within a certain radius). That is more consistent with someone familiar with the place from childhood or work but is now located enough of a distance away that he’s not familiar to current residents.

In regard to the phone video of the guy on the bridge - here is my speculation (note:  I know the bridge is way above ground level, but this is still what I think may have  happened and what the voice said...):

- The guy is walking toward whoever it is that's holding up the cell phone. Since it's Libby's phone, Libby was most likely holding it.
- A man's voice is heard the exact moment the video is snapped.
- It's unlikely the voice is of the walker - as he's too far.
- The voice sounds as if it's coming from a man standing right behind or beside Libby.
- The voice, IMO, is saying, "down the hill...."

If the voice owner did say, "down the hill...", and was abducting the girls at that moment, the walker had to have been an accomplice.

Further speculation - there could have been 2 assailants who trapped both girls, by one being at each end of the bridge.  One of the perps (perp #2) could have grabbed Abbey's arm to drag her away.  Perp #2 and Abbey may have still been right by Libby.  Libbey could have grabbed her phone to call for help, looked up and saw perp #1 walking toward her, at which point Libbey snapped the video of perp #1 at the exact moment perp #2 was pulling Abbey as he said, "down the hill".

Alright, I just realized something - was the man walking and the voice heard at the exact same time?  Or, was the video snapshot of the walker taken at one point, then the phone recorder turned on at some other point, when the voice said, "down the hill..."?

I wonder if LE checked to for a list of violent sex offenders who'd been released from prison within the previous 4 weeks within a 60 mile radius of Delphi?  The guy could have been released from prison recently, then hung out at that spot waiting for a victim. He may have been familiar with that area.   The perp could have intended for the bridge to be his abduction point.  It's an easy place to trap a victim.  

 I'm puzzled that this lone man would decide to approach 2 girls in order to rape or abduct them..granted, they were teenagers but still, there were two of them and any rational adult could realize how difficult a situation that could be in terms of controlling them..he did have a knife it seems but still, this is a somewhat popular park that people go to so this guy might have been intoxicated or just not thinking this through too much..hard to tell but I assume his goal was to rape obe or both of these girls but again, by himself how did he plan to pull this off exactly? Maybe he meant to quickly kill one and then have the other to himself? Again though, this is a park in the middle of the day so this strikes me as very risky but if he's  sex crazed psychopath, he probably didn't care...

  Have police ruled out that there could be 2 suspects? We still fit know if he raped the girls, right? From what I've read, the way he killed the girls hasn't been released but it seems like it was extremely violent or overkill..this info hasn't been released but aside from stabbing or cutting throat, what could it be and why not release it? 

  I'm surprised this case hasn't been solved especially due to a picture being taken of the suspect!

Decapitated? Very disturbing but I imagine it takes a bit of strength and time to try and decapitate someone..?.let's assume he did try to do this or he accomplished it, what does this say about him? Does it say he felt comfortable enough in the park to be able to do this?that or he was just a very very disturbed individual..?decapitations are quite uncommon I'd assume when it comes to murders 

  Btw I've watched this suspect in the clips and I don't get the vibe that he was impaired or drunk..I just see a guy walking on railroad tracks that may not want to be seen
